no more using the side of a regular framing hammer to not marr my punches. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s held up to some pretty aggressive punching

I thought either the haft needed to be longer or I needed a heftier mallet after working with 8-10oz leather hide.

Bought this for a young man I'm helping to get started in leather tooling. It has a good feel in my hand and a nice weight to it. This is a nice, affordable option for starting out.

this maul is a huge upgrade from wailing on the punches with a wooden mallet this only takes about two firm whacks and it is through and the threading punches pull out easily after punching through 7-9oz leather

Works great I have stamped with on several projects and it works great get it cheap and worth your time. Easy to use, you hit the stamp and it does the job. I have had good sucess with it.
