Don’t have to rap the pump shaft with a rag no more when putting in my bench vice.

I use these to clamp fork and shock shafts in my vise when revuilding. If you are looking for something to clamp things as tightly as possible, look elsewhere. If you need to hold round objects in place without damaging the surface these work wuite well for a range of different diameters

These worked well for cylindrical objects. also, the aluminum conducts heat away from the object in the vise; if you put the same object between the plastic ones, the object may get hot when you drill it and melt the plastic vise jaws.

Seems these pads are made of durable aluminum, though I wouldn't push it to keep the steel work pieces in place. Its designed for light duty convenience, rather than heavy duty machining, so use your judgement. The magnets are minimal, barely keep the pads in place.Thickness is about 5/16".I recommend these pads as an extension, not as a main duty fixture. For that you should use the vice's permanent steel jaws.

Handy little Jaws but the magnets are very weak so have to be very careful when installing items to be clamped to the vice

I must say, that these aluminum vise jaw pads are extremely helpful in some applications. Very handy for small and delicate jobs. I would definitely recommend them, but remember, they do not cooperate with a 5 kg hammer. - Shall I say it again in lbs....??

The past year or so ive found myself collecting up vintage/antique bench vises and cleaning them up and repainting them and sometimes reselling them or giving them away. Theres just something about these old pieces of American history that show the strength and quality that just isnt found in todays line of bench vises. Todays bench vises that you buy from big box stores are made in China and will probably break in half after a couple months. USA made bench vises can last over 100 years! Anyway i purchased this set of Lisle Jaw pads to put on an old Chas Parker 974 vise that i was reconditioning. The jaws that was on the old Parker vise was kinda flat and worn out. Replacing the jaws would be rather expensive and very time consuming and tedious. The flat worn out jaws would probably work well for wood or something else that doesnt need alot of grip but probably would slip on that oil covered car part that seems to always make it to the bench vise.So a friend had mentioned to me that companies do make universal jaw pads for vises for just such situations. So i looked up jaw pads and searched a few images until i came across a set that i thought would work the best. The image i came across was the Lisle 48000 Jaw Pads. Perfect for my Chas Parker 974 4" jaws. So i ordered the jaws and the jaws came rather swiftly in the mail and i took them out into the garage. I took them out of the package and i noticed first thing that they had some heft to them. I looked them over and also noticed that they are designed in a 90 degree shape as well with a very light magnetic strip on top of them.I had a Wilton 400s Bullet vise laying in pieces being cleaned on my table that i tried the jaw pads out on first. The jaw pads fit perfectly on the 90 degree shape of the Wilton jaws! A perfect fit!! So i take the Lisle jaw pads over to my Chas Parker vise and put them on and they did NOT fit well at all :( The reason being why they dont fit well at all is because the Lisle jaw pads are designed in a 90 degree fashion and the Parker jaws are sloped at the top causing the jaws to "teeter-totter" on top of the vise and not work correctly. However i was able to fix this easily. I placed both jaw pads in the Parker vise right where i wanted them and closed the vise and used a hammer and bent the top of the Lisle jaw pads over to conform with the top of the Parker vise! This worked extremely well. Since the Lisle jaw pads were made of aluminum, the jaw pads bent very easily and now they look like they were designed for the Parker vise from the factory! I even took the Lisle pads back off the Parker vise and some how they still fit on the Wilton Bullet vise with no problems too! HAHA!! Eureka!! What a great piece!! I cant wait to use these jaw pads next time i put an oil filter soaked in oil in the vise to cut it open and look for damage inside it. It used to be that the oil filter would slip and slide around so much that it was hard and dangerous just to cut the darn thing open! Not anymore! 5 stars for Lisle jaw pads!!

Nicely made and perfectly cut, grippy, matched-across grooves make this a solid purchase. I like the magnets being under the top rail rather than behind the jaws. The only negative is that for a 4" vise, which matches the length of the jaws, the jaw face is a little tall, causing the long, tubular groove to line up right near the bottom of my vise's actual jaws. That being said, it looked like my rifle's barrel was going to slip out of the bottom of these, however it never happened. I did add a strip of hockey tape through the center of each groove for increased grip too, which may have helped and certainly prevents any marring on the finish of the barrel. Overall, these get a thumbs up and worked well.

The Lisle 48000 vise jaw pads are nicely made of aluminum. They are made in the USA, and have been tumbled to remove all burrs or sharp edges. A perfect fit on my 4 inch bench vise. The V-grooves appear to be machined, and they seem to be parallel and square to the jaws. The grooves have a 120 degree angle (rather than the more common 90 degrees) so they can grip hexagonal bar stock perfectly. The grooves are sized to grip round objects from 1/4 inch to about one inch diameter. As other have mentioned, the channel at the top of the jaws inhibits clamping of very small parts (less than 1/4 inch). But the channel is very convenient for holding flat bar stock (or even small pieces of sheet metal) parallel to the jaws. This feature is very handy for use with a drill press vise when you need to drill holes that are perpendicular to the workpiece. The magnetic strips do not grip very aggressively, but they are adequate to keep the jaw pads in place. Overall, the nicest soft jaws that I have seen or used.

There is really only one thing I do not like about these soft-jaws. The jaws do not meet flush at the top. Where they meet, there is a channel about 1/4 inch deep the entire length of the jaw. If you want to clamp something small, you have to figure a work-around. Otherwise, I like them, and they are made well. The magnets seem to be strong enough and the pre-drilled holes for clamping round objects work well, as long as the object is not too small.A car guy would find these more useful that a jeweler or gunsmith.

Thanks to other reviewers that took pictures and gave measurements of these jaws. They fit perfect on my vise and allow to grip round objects without messing up the surface. Magnets hold them in place good enough so they don't fall off, but still easy to shift around to get the indents to align when you are gripping something round. Quality milled surface, I didn't see any burrs or anything.
