As another review mentions, there are differences between package and insert instructions. I did the strip test first and was happy that the results were all within safe limits. Then I did the e-coli test. The picture on the bag shows a lilac colored pad turning beige if e-coli is present. The pad in the bag was already beige and remained so for the duration of the 48 hour period. I have no clue what to conclude about the test result and now I'm questioning the accuracy of the strip test.

I am on well and have not sent the water out to be lab tested in about 7 years. At ~$120 a test, this kit is a low-cost option to verify there are no significant changes since the last test.I am primarily looking at hardness to set the water softer, PH, Lead, Bacteria, Nitrates, and Iron. This is a very cost-effective and seems to be accurate based on my last set of lab test results. The strip was pretty close to the 7-year-old lab results. No surprises!

Good kit, easy to follow instructions. A large quantity of test strips helps identify water quality. Functions well and good accurate results.

Super impressed with this water testing kit. I found it really easy to use and basically I'm just dipping them in the water and checking the colors. It's covering everything from lead levels to chlorine levels. I tested my tap water and the results matched what I expected. Love that it includes bacteria tests too... just for peace of mind. Great value for the price and I'd definitely keep using it to ensure that our water stays safe... 5 stars!

Even though this kit was meant for testing drinking water I actually use it to test my swimming pool water. After all, you sometimes accidentally drink the water from the pool while swimming. We use algaecide in our popl to keep the algae away and the active ingredient in algaecide is copper. This kit does a good job of helping us monitor that.

This kit is simple to use, and uses color code to read the various parameters. I used it for many things so far, the home tap water, the pool, the well water, I've tested to see if the cats water had bacteria in it after a few hours, I've tested a few bottled waters from store brands. The tests have been accurate , for example, it did test differently for chlorine after I had shocked the pool, and the metal content in the well water tested different from the city water as I would expect to happen. The only thing is, for home use 120 strips is a lot, so these will last awhile but I would like to have had more bacteria tests included because I like to keep an eye on pet water but that's a preference. I have no way of knowing if the bacteria tests are accurate without having the water tested by another source but the strips were confirmed accurate by me using a more complicated test kit. The strips are much easier to use.

As a camper and hiker, ensuring I always have healthy drinking water on hand can be a challenge. It used to be that running water was considered good to drink, but this is not longer true.So I need to have ways to both test and create it while traveling, and this 16 in 1 testing kit (1-3) does the job for me.It tests for a myriad of properties(4), and utilizes an easy-to-read color coding chart(5) to calculate the results. An added bonus is that it's lightweight enough to carry in my backpack, and I keep it in my car so that it's with me everywhere I go.Highly recommend!

I found this test kit confusing. The packaging says it includes 120 strips and 4 bacteria tests. The kit contains 100 strips that test for 20 items, 10 different strips that test for sulfate, 10 different strips that test for nitrate and nitrite, and 4 kits for bacteria. The bacteria tests are labeled "E.COLI" but the enclosed User's Guide says it tests for "coliform" bacteria" (of which E.COLI is just one type). It is not clear if it only tests for E.COLI or all coliform bacteria. For the 20-item test strip, instructions on the box say dip the strip in water for 2 seconds. The User's Guide says dip the strip for 5 seconds. The box says hold the strip horizontally for 30 seconds. I thought that meant for the test pads to face up, but it may mean for them to face to the side, so excess water will run off. The User's Guide says wait 20 seconds for results. The box says to compare colors over the next 30 seconds. The User's Guide doesn't mention waiting beyond the initial 20 seconds. Will the results be inaccurate after one minute? The color charts for Sodium Chloride are different on the bottle of test strips and the reference chart in the boxI only tried the 20-item test strips using tap water and distilled water. The tap water showed elevated hardness and total chlorine, which I expected. Other than that both test strips matched the default, initial color. The color differences are so subtle that I'm not sure I trust my estimate of the results and I'm not sure it was worth the effort.
