I bought this 3/4" and the 1" plug cutters so I could repair some large flaws in a piece I was building. I have only used the 1" one, but it was really sharp and made really good plugs. You need a drill press to use the cutters, and you have to set it to a low speed. A good, well-made product.

Cut smooth plugs in hard maple, 410 rpm. Quality product. It pays to buy American.

Purchased this to make about 25 plugs from some cherry and walnut woods. Worked great, didn't notice any dulling. Plugs came out smooth and were easy to install.

Was a bit pricey for what it is. Tool really wasn't very sharp. I cut 10 plugs with it and it burned all of them.

I used it to cut 3/4 plugs from the wood of Atlantic white cedar. That wood, which is relatively soft, is similar to western red cedar in weight and machining properties. The cutter worked well. I have not tried it on heavier woods. The chamfered end is helpful in seating the plug. Use the cutter with a drill press.

I bought this to make plugs for a bridge railing out of ipe I had multiple plugs to cut. This cut through it well had to back off and go a few times but that’s the nature of ipe (extremely dense). The plugs themselves where perfect not to tight that you couldn’t get them in and not loose with slop. I had bought a different brand for smaller plugs and it was horrible to cut wit. Definitely recommend

I received this 3/4 inch and a 1/2 inch plug cutter from Bowers Tool promptly. Both are well made and I'm glad to have an American-made product! I tried the 3/4 inch cutter in my drill press at 540 RPM on a piece of pine. It made a neat, clean cut with apparently little effort. I took my time to avoid overheating the cutter, and there was no burning of the wood. I'm pleased with these cutters and highly recommend them and Bowers Tool.

I purchased this cutter to make plugs for a series of cutting boards I am making. The cutter performs admirably and gives a nice clean cuts but I have been through 2 of these cutter in about 4 months under light use. I have begun cutting only 3-4 at a time because heat build up seems to be the reason the first two failed. I am cutting Osage Orange and Walnut primarily, both hardwoods but not beyond what I would expect a cutting tool to be capable of.
