The M-D Aluminum Mini Low-profile Outswing Door Threshold features a vinyl seal for protection from drafts, moisture, dust, and insects. The bumper-style design is specifically made for outswing doors. As the door swings shut the vinyl bumper insert creates a seal on the side of the door. The threshold can be used to install with a new door or to replace an existing threshold. All of the hardware needed for installation is included. Before installation, the threshold can be cut to a desired length by using a hacksaw.

The weatherproof seal on this threshold is formed when the face of the closing door bumps against a vinyl seal that is located on the side of the threshold. Since the only critical height factor is that it must be higher than the gap below the door, installation is simple. M-D Building Products offers a variety of bumper thresholds with multiple materials and configurations.

This threshold strip is essential “low-hanging fruit” to save money to seal doors from draft, especially if you live in an area with a lot of cold. Prior to installing this strip I was getting some frost build-up on the underside of my outside door, but no more. The seal design effectively creates a tight fit, prevent cold air from entering my home - especially in winter - and is tough enough to withstand being walked on as a threshold seal when people enter or leave the home.

This arrived today and was so warped, I had to use a mallet to straighten it out before I could even think about installing it. Then, the track where the rubber weather proofing was so crimped, it would not allow for the weather strip to slide in. Sadly, I had already cut it to length so I won't even try to return it.Where is the quality control? I do believe this is the poorest quality item I have ever purchased from Amazon.

measure carefully if you have to cut. other than that it replaced an older one where the rubber tore. this seems to seal very well

I wish M-D Building Products sold just the seal that fits into the threshold. I would be interested in buying extra seals instead of having to buy the whole deal.

Does the job and is easy to install. Provides a good seal at the base of the door to keep insects outside where they belong.
