During this age of Social media and fancy cell phones that do many things it is refreshing to find something that is difficult to find in the regular stores anymore. As an old Dinosaur I was elated to know I could still get the recorder which is the same as the one I purchased years ago and recently died. Very Thankful.

Product doesn't work. Tape supplied barely ran for 1 second when it started to wind through spokes. I put in a different tape and new batteries. Doesn't work for more than 1 second and sometimes doesn't work at all. I tried Energizer, Panasonic, Sunbeam, Walgreen's batteries all with the same result. And I used Olympus, Sony and Maxell microcassette tapes. This is the third tape recorder I've owned so I know how they should work. Sadly I waited too long to try to send it back (because I was so mad) and now it's not worth it for partial credit and I have to pay for shipping. SO NOT worth it! Never again.

Can't tell you how many purchases i've mde from Amazon but there's a lot. I now ONLY shop with them period!*I promise i am not affiliated w/ Ocean Reef or Amazon!. I am 63yr old Great granny. I purchased this item from the company but the voice activation would not work. I origianally left an average review because it shipped fine, etc and no other problems.Well they immediately called me, and really showed so much concern i was shocked! They rushed me a return label n gave me a refund! The rep that called was very polite and professional. I was so surprised because I never had anybody call about a product when I had a complaint! Wow, these people were on the money! As soon as they recieved it, they called again to see if I recieved email notification of the refund. Ok, i'm so pleased with them. Being my age i've been ripped off just too many times.After all, it was only a flaw and THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE PRODUCT! Memorex has always been a great company too, but anything you buy could be defective these days!I will def. shop with Ocean Reef again n again..They're alright with me!!Thanks guys, from my heart! and God bless you!Anita

This was perfect for my Dad. He had an identical one which I believe he wore out. He has a slew of mini cassettes which he recorded over the last 15 years and was able to listen to my mother's voice. Gave him comfort as she just passed away after 70 yrs. of marriage. Sound quality was fine considering his recording of the mini's left something to be desired on some of these. He is happy with this!

Was looking for replacement recorders to have spares for two that, although they still work, are getting a bit old. After checking around, I found that the two I would like to get were WAY overpriced, so I chose this one as one of them. This isn't a bad recorder but it is kind of noisy on both playback and in recording. There is a slight background hum that is very pronounced when the volume is turned up. It tapes OK, and plays back OK, but the background noise sometimes gets in the way. If all you need is a small recorder to tape items that are close by then this recorder will work for you, but if you are taping in a large room with a lot of noise then you might have a problem. I think it will work for me but the background noise might turn some off.

I hate to write poor product reviews on a sample of one, but my experience with this product was not good.The model I received bears the same model number as in the caption, but the appearance of the unit is different. No matter. The recorder seemed to work correctly for the first few weeks, but now much of what I dictate is unintelligible on playback. I have tried a number of different tapes and batteries. The sound is usable for awhile, then reverts to near silence or distortion. Maddening for my secretary.I appreciate that this was not a commercial unit, but it has not received hard service. It has been frustrating to record a complete letter or document, only to find upon replay that my time was wasted. It is light in weight and build quality is not good. Seems to be a classic example of a unit intended to sell, but not to perform.You may do well to note the date of positive reviews of this unit. The 2012 version may have little in common with the 2003 model!
