I'm new to metal detecting. I just got a metal detector and this pinpointer and tested it immediately. It came with a battery, which is nice. The battery was easy to install and the pinpointer comes with a holster so you won't lose it while out metal detecting. I held it to various metal objects around my kitchen, and it immediately went off. I have no doubt it will work well in the field, and I'm anxious to try it as soon as the weather improves.
