I tried a few other less expensive models and found that you have to spend a little more to get more reliable results. I tried it near the beach in the sand and found quite a few rustty old nails, which helped imy learning curve. Although I didn't find any treasures yet, I am confident that, as I learn the techniques, I may become more successful. I can't blame the machine any more as it did produce some results and I really like the colorful screen. It packs up nocely in the case provided,

This is my first metal detector.It comes almost assembled.You need to install the coil, and slide the display on, and plug it in.The detector has a sliding shaft similar to a tripod. It extends easily.The detector seems to be easy to use. It has several settings, which look like they are designed for armatures. I don't think this is a bad thing. If you are an expert, you are probably looking at a more advanced model.The detectors comes with 2, 9-Volt batteries. They both go in the display unit.It also comes with a storage bag. You can fit everything in easily.

CONS: Sensitivity.PROS: Light. Visible screen. Small size.Additional Thoughts: I took this to the beach to compare with my other metal detector. I found this metal detector to be light weight, easy to handle, and the display was very visible in bright sunlight. I really liked how the pin point button just had to be pressed once to turn that function on, then pressed again to turn it off. My other detector, the button has to be held which is a bit annoying. I used this in the all metals mode and it picked up everything my other detector did. This metal detector isn't quite as sensitive as my other detector but it is sensitive enough to find a single strand of very thin metal wire several inches under sand. Another thing I like about this one is how easy it is to collapse to a very short, storage size.LovingTheRetiredLife

I bought this to help my dad find a lost wedding ring. And though it didn't find what we were looking for (though we weren't 100% sure where to look) we did find lots of other interesting things. I think this would be cool to use on a beach or other area and see what turns up. It was very lightweight and easy to use with an easy to read screen. Maybe one day I'll take it to search for some buried treasure!

I used it at the beach with my kids. They loved it so much it is a fun cool gadget.It was super easy to set up only took me about 10 minutes. It is also notheavy at all and super lightweight. It was accurate and I found some coins and andsome pieces of metal. All my kids love to use it. I love this metal detector and sodoes my kids it was awesome.
