I used it with a Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD. The drive was recognized initially and I was able to format it successfully. However, after that, the enclosure stopped working entirely and the SSD is no longer detected when connected through it.I have tried replacing the data cable and tested the USB 2.0 and PD ports, both of which function normally. Additionally, I confirmed that the SSD itself is working properly by connecting it to another enclosure without any issues.Based on this, it is clear that the problem lies with the hard drive enclosure.I requested a return and this item is not eligible.

My use case is to be able to load up music and movies to a portable drive from my Windows computer, and then couple the drive to my iPhone for use when I want extra music and movie capacity. The fact that it is a small form factor with magnetic attachment to my iPhone 16 Pro is a great feature.I had a 512GB NVMe M.2 2280 SSD from a pull and used that for the install. Physical install is super easy, without tools. The 2280 doesn't even need a screw - just insert it and snap the cover closed. To use this device with both Windows OS and iOS, you need to format the drive in exFAT, which is easily done in Windows Explorer. The drive was recognized immediately on my Windows 10 computer. I formatted it, and loaded it up with music and movies. However, the iPhone 16 Pro did not see the drive until I provided additional power through the "optional" USB-C power port. It turns out there is not enough power for the iPhone 16 Pro to run the drive without additional power input. This is disappointing because it means you can't use the drive on the iPhone without also plugging in external power, which defeats the purpose of a handy, small-form-factor backpack drive. It works without additional power on my PC and on my iPad Air M3.For this reason, I won't use it to carry extra music and media for my iPhone. It does have limited use as an easily portable USB-C drive to transfer files between Windows computers, though.

MINIX Magnetic M.2 2230 NVMe SSD Encosure Supports iPhone 15/16 Pro Max ProRes, Type C USB 2.0 Audio Port, Compatible with iPad Pro, MacBook, Laptop,PD 60W Max, External SSD Case - Data Transfer with 10Gbps Support: Equipped with a 10Gbps USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, MINIX SSD enclosure supports read and write speeds up to 1000-1200MB/s, making it an ideal solution for data transfer and backup. It can be connected to an SSD for direct external storage of the 4K ProRes videos you shootSo I read the description of this drive cage and it said it had decent build quality along with functionality to support full PCIe 3.0 speeds. Tested and yes it does, was able to max out that 1200 MB/s speeds with a Crucial Gen3 drive. Put a Gen4 drive in and unfortunately it maxes out at Gen3 speeds. Weirdly I got better speeds from Gen3 versus Gen4. So this works really well for a drive you want to either give your phone extra storage or if you want to back up your phone/tablet ... but this definitely is not going to be a super speed drive storage. I would not use this for shooting ProRes or RAW but for general photography and video this is just fine.

I have a couple of 256Gb NVMe SSD laying around and wanted to put them to use.- Advertised USB 3.2 Gen 2, (at 10 Gbps) rate- Great form factor which is super light, portable, and flexible.- Ability to handle multiple styles of SSD (NVMe, SATA, etc)- Chip Cooling Heat Sink (Graphene film layer) included- Can handle pass thru Charging (60W max) to device, while doing data transfers.- Can be used with USB-C microphone, at the same time as 3.5mm Audio jackI do a lot of video and large file format (RAW) photos on my mobile device, and you wouldn't believe how much room it takes up for just a few hundred photos or several long videos. Now I can take some of my old legacy SSD's and leverage them as portable storage by using the Minix device. Very cool.(Update) My Pixel 9 Pro struggles to provide enough power to this external device, even with the lowest possible power requirement SSD's (NAND). It is a good thing that it has 60W PD, because I need it most of the time. I carry a 10A power bank with me so I can get the juice to it that it requires. Just wanted to mention it. YMMV.Now, because I am using some older tech (4 year old SSD's in my case right now) I am not getting the full 10 Gbps that I could be due to the limitations of my stuff. That said, all of the other faster SSD's which I decommission from various devices in the future will just make this device faster. I am excited about that. Realistically, if I get a speed of 990MB/s on this port then I will be happy.I have not really used the Heat Sink just yet. Mostly because I'm using some WD SN530's which run pretty cool on their own, plus it is not really hot where I live yet (it gets between 110F - 120F outdoors in the Desert where I live), to see how the heat effects this. I like the Blue color, because it will reflect heat. I do wonder what prolonged direct sunlight exposure will do to this enclosure, but I guess I will have to report back on that one. If I get put a DRAM SSD in there, then I will certainly try to use the Heat Sink to the best of it's ability.By the way, I am using this on Android, so I know that I am not going to get some of the specific baked in benefits which iPhone devices will (such as 120FPS recordings), however I do not record anything at those frame rates right now anyway, so it's not a big deal. But if you are using iPhone, then you have even greater advantage. The magnet is real strong, and when stuck together (it is the same thickness as my case), it is a super easy form factor to pocket and live with.It is a well built device and I recommend it. Transfer speed is very fast (for my expectations), and the SSD's are not getting hot.
