Although it is a bit expensive for what it is, it works well and is easy to install. Make sure you tighten the nut that allows the gate to open. If it pivots east, it will open as you drive. The thumb screw that sets the opening comes lose easily so crank it tight with pliers. The cover is functional but very cheap and won’t last long. But the bottom line is it works and doesn’t shoot fertilizer onto your ATV.

It arrived damaged and I sent it back. No fault to item manufacturer, but shipping damage. No chance to try it out.

This is my third Mountie 4-wheeler spreader. Been using them for years to plant deer food plots. Works well and makes the job much easier. Spreads fertilizer, lime, and seed easily.

Bought this last year to plant less than 1/2 acre of food plots. First use (last year Oct 2017) went ok and the only issue I had with it was the slide adjustment, to control the amount of seed being spread, was not very smooth and would stick from time to time. After use, it was washed, dried, and placed is storage. We tried to use it again this season and the motor had froze up and would not budge. Unfortunately , we didn't try it before leaving the house (considering it was basically brand new didn't think that was necessary) and were already at the property which is 3 hours away. So we managed to get the top of the motor opened just enough (which is not an easy task) to spray the armature and bearings with Kroll and after 15-20 minutes of working it back and forth, was able to get the motor running. We were able to get the (light weight) seeds spread, but once we put the heavy (35-40lbs) of fertilizer in the hopper, the bottom started cracking and started letting the product flow freely. Called customer service several days in a row and got disconnected both times as their site will auto disconnect you after 20 minutes of wait time. I left all my information on their web site, but still haven't received a call back and this is going on 3 days. I understand products aren't perfect, but these issues, coupled with poor customer service has been enough to convince me to NEVER buy another Moultrie product again!

Wow! I am very impressed with this product. I wasn't sure if it was going to work on my son small Chinese four wheelers and it fit perfect. I had to modify the arm connectors but other than that I love it. It works great and does not feel cheap. I bought it to throw corn on my property and salt my driveway before a snowstorm and it works amazing. I would definitely recommend this product.

My second, good spreader for the price, the plastic cloth cover could be better designed to prevent spills on rough ground, It is very tight and will not be very durable. I never use the cover and it works great on most ground

We have purchased 2 of these and both have died. First it takes modification to mount to most late model atv's. I actually had to buy an additional metal rack that mounts to the factory Polaris rack on my Sportsman. Once mounted it works great but the spreader motors are horrible. First one died after a couple months of use. I attributed it to possible corrosion from spreading fertilizer so I bought a second one. After 3 times of use the motor has done the same thing and seized up. Tried to open up the motors but the bolts holding it together are such low grade that they stripped so we cant even see if we can fix it. Wouldn't recommend to anyone

This 12 volt Moultrie spreader worked well for me, but I modified it quite a bit. I discarded all of the included hopper gate and lever mechanism, and instead installed a rectangular plate inside the hopper, not outside as was standard, and welded an arm/dial-indicator style mechanism, which was especially helpful, since I mounted the spreader in front of an old zero-turn mower. The spreader is now easily placed and removed on the mower without any tools or adjustment.I was uncertain about how well the custom gate mechanism would work being inside the hopper, as the surface inside is not fully smooth and has a raised area of support. But that didn't matter, even with some finer Scotts fertilizer about the consistency of beach sand, the wing-shaped gate covered the two round holes when closed well enough to hold the commodity in place, and it would undoubtedly do the same with various lawn seed, except maybe bermuda seed. Now, my particular mounting is closer to the ground than most, but I was still seeing a throw radius of about 6 feet to the right, left, and ahead of me, which I thought was great. But this initial trial was with that fine stuff, and I'll more typically use a fertilizer that is a littler larger or coarser, so I'll see better with the bigger stuff. And it was nice to see the hopper up front and how fast the gate regulation was allowing the fertilizer to flow. Amazingly, I spread 12.5 lbs of fine fertilizer as if it were an hour glass, taking about 8-10 minutes to repeatedly cover about 5000 square feet, even though I could have opened the gate more and gone a lot faster. The coverage for me seemed surprisingly even, as I noticed from a muddy spot in the driveway where I went over shows (pictured), as it had a look like something that had been salt and peppered. The bolt holes on the included frame were not in alignment with he hopper, not even close. I would recommend Moultrie consider putting the gate inside the hopper, making the hopper inside bottom smooth, and just use a simpler tiller-style arm for gate regulating. The price of around $100 seems good, and no State extortion paid, for me, when bought from other than Amazon directly. I like the size and capacity of the unit at 50 lbs, nice the typical residential fertilizer/preemergent stuff is around 35 lbs per bag.

Just received the Moultrie Spreader. Easy to assemble but the directions could be improved. The spreader worked perfectly and is just what I needed for small food plots. Very easy to regulate amount of material you want to spread. I would recommend this spreader.

I purchased this spreader two months ago to plant my food plots. When it arrived I put it together as far as I could. When I went to attach the arms to the base one of the mounting holes only overlapped 1/4 of the way with the base (requiring a lot of hammering to fit) and the other was, wait for it, drilled into the wrong wide of the arm. That's right - rather than lying horizontal and in-line with the base unit, it ended up being vertical. Completely useless.I called Moultrie to let them know about the issue I was having and they said that they would look into it. A month later I received an email asking to see the pictures that I told them I would send them, which I did. I am still waiting for a reply another month later. I am very disappointed with the quality control on the product itself and on the support which Moultrie has provided.
