I ordered this post to go with a tool rest by the same seller and they fit perfectly. The 5/8 inch post fits my Rockler midi lathe securely. The post has flat spots so you can put a wrench on it to tighten it to the tool rest. I saw a review that said somebody bent the post. I think that must have been a major catch on a long rest because I don't expect that to happen based on what I'm seeing. And I like the modular nature of the system. I have this with a 4 inch wide rest and I can opt to get a longer rest or a curved rest if I want and use the same post.

Perfect for smaller/mini lathes. From the base to the top of the post measures about 2.8" and from the base to the top of the threaded post measures about 3.4". Diameter wise it is .62" at the widest point. The threads are clean but perhaps not as sharp as they could be, but my tool rest threaded on/off cleanly.This is a nice little post for those jobs where you may need to get in closer then your current setup allows.

AS YOU CAN SEE SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. BOUGHT THIS AND AN "S" SHAPE TOOL REST. BAD PURCHASE. IT BENT WITHIN 2 MINUTES. I WAS CLEANING UP THE INTERIOR OF THE BOWL, NOT "HOGGING" THE MIDDLE. THE BOWL WAS ALMOST RUINED. HAD THE POST TOO LONG TO RETURN. NOW I HAVE 2 PIECES OF JUNK IN MY LATHE DRAWER TO GET RID OF AND ABOUT $50 LESS IN MY WALLET. BUYER BEWARE. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM.
