Does not work, plugged into next to my stove, turned on gas on my stove, smell gas would not set off the alarm, had to open windows to air out house. UPDATE. Great customer service, seller reach out to me for a refund. I asked if they could ship out a new one. Just installed it and works great. Thanks

Our range has burner gas knobs that are easily "bumped" to release pilot flame gas without activating the ignition so we wanted something other than our noses to detect this. It is important to move the detector around and test it with leaks (number 1 or 2 shows on detector) to compensate for such things as air currents from furnace/AC ducts, ceiling fans, etc. Better to have a few false alarms from being "too close" than not to have an undetected leak....!!Bottom line: it is sensitive enough to work but needs to be properly located. And yes, the alarm is loud enough to hear in an adjoining room.

I have this plugged in next to my gas stove and it gives me peace of mind. I tested it successfully by turning on my gas stove without igniting it for about 15 seconds.
