Deer Facts:

The average deer can eat up to 7 pounds of food per day. In the U.S, billions of dollars are lost yearly to deer-damaged crops. If an area is plentiful in resources a deer will make it a part of their “home range” or where they live and bed. If left undisturbed, deer can repopulate and stay in that area year after year. Our repellent will help to disrupt their natural feeding habits and repel them out of their home range.

Deer are concentrate selectors, which means that they eat or “cherry-pick” the most nutrient-rich plant parts that are best tasting. This explains why the tops of your plants, blooms, and buds, are eaten whilst the rest of the plant is still intact.

Nature’s MACE Deer and Rabbit Repellent protects against deer and rabbit damage to apple trees, pear trees, lilies, vines, seedlings, flowers, gardens, beds, ornamentals, azaleas, hosta, arborvitae, evergreens, perennials, annuals, roses, tulips, hemlocks, edible crops, and almost all types of vegetation.

Deer leave behind ragged leaves, missing areas, and frequently just stems. Their droppings are like rabbits, shaped in elongated pellet form.

Deer are habitual creatures that often feed at night to avoid being seen by people and prey. During these late-night hours, deer eat heavily, which is why you might not see them during the daytime.

Before you buy:

Deer and Rabbit MACE granular is best used for lower-level ground vegetation, i.e., flowers, crops, bushes, seedlings, ornamental plants, shrubs, garden beds, and plants under 2 feet tall. Our granular repellents are perfect for perimeter applications to protect desired areas. This product is designed to mainly repel deer, moose, and elk. If you are trying to repel mainly rabbits, try our Rabbit MACE formulas.

We also provide liquid deer and rabbit repellents. They come in both concentrated and ready-to-use formulas. The ready-to-use repellents come ready to use, and the concentrates require mixing with water in an application sprayer. Our liquid concentrate repellents are best for larger and more widespread areas, and for middle to upper-level plant protection such as trees, vines, and bushes. Utilize both the granular and liquid deer repellents for best results and maximum coverage.

Application Tips: How to Keep Deer Out of My Garden?

On top of applying directly to plants, consider applying to bushes, shrubs, etc. along the perimeter of your yard to discourage deer from entering. In the beginning, apply more heavily and frequently to stop active browsing.

Identify the area to protect or the problem areas caused by deer and rabbit munching (torn leaves, missing flowers, crushed plants, droppings, rubs).

For the first application, apply Deer and Rabbit MACE Granular heavily and evenly 18” away from flower beds, landscaped ornamentals, gardens, ground cover, and edibles in danger of animal browsing. You can also sprinkle in between plants. Apply a 24” (2 foot) wide barrier around plant groups. Re-apply every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain control.

In areas where Deer, Rabbit, Elk, and Moose feeding or browsing is heavier and more intense, additional and/or more liberal applications may be required, increase barrier to 30” wide. This will eventually train animals to avoid and stay clear of your garden and landscaped areas. Re-apply after extensive snowfall by breaking up crusted snow prior to application. Re-apply after periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall.

For Larger Areas: Apply Deer & Rabbit MACE Granular in a 24” wide protective strip/barrier around protective zone. Then apply a 15” wide strip inside the protective zone every 15 Feet.

For Winter Use: All-Season Plant Protection!

The best time to start applying is at the beginning of each growing season. After a cold winter deer are eager to eat fresh growth. Consider spraying during the winter as a preventative measure. You can spray less as there is less foliage and roughly once per month. If you notice deer in the winter, they will likely be back in the spring. Pay attention to bird feeders, as the seed may be attracting deer. Be aware of your neighbors potentially feeding deer. Deer may travel through your yard to access an open food source.

It works as a winter repellent in preventing browsing, nibbling, and harmful deer rubbing. Simply apply it to the base of your trees. Prevent hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of deer damage before the spring season even starts. Save your trees!

This repellent is designed to change browsing behavior and train deer to stay away. Protect your hard-earned landscape, trees, shrubs, and crops from hungry deer and rabbits, before it’s too late.

This didn’t work well for us. The deer still chewed up our pine trees even after we followed directions on bag. The rain seemed to cause it to stop working. I was not impressed & won’t buy again

We bought this product to (possibly) help deter the deer from nibbling on our new cherry and snack apple saplings; the mace was non-effective. Easy to spread but doesn't last long. After two weeks another application is required. Odd odor. Not sure of the mace's safety or aftereffects it may have on plants or trees that produce fruit. Won't be using again. Sorry.

Bought it for deer and it works well. Works better on Armadillos which is my worst garden pest. Just sprinkling lightly around the perimeter of the area of our gardens we want to protect does the trick. Seems to last about a month, less if we have heavy rain. It doesn’t just give out all once so you’ll see some slight damage and can reapply before it gets worse. Stinks for a day of so, but I’m OK with that. Can’t imagine this would work well on a lawn unless you put it out with a spreader. Can’t imagine the stench.

So far this repellant works. It has a really distinct odor, not putrid but not pleasant. I have been getting a lot of rain so I am re-applying the repellant around by small garden raised bed frequently, every couple of days. As of now the rogue does in our neighborhood have not eaten my young tender beans plants so far due to this repellant, last year they mowed down my young bean plants in a single night. I have also noticed no squirrels have been in this garden bed so far since I have been applying the repellant, bonus!

Lots of things don't, but the deer don't like this. It does smell, but I don't care! I used it twice in the summer.

Update from previous post.Today Doe and fawn looking for the salad bar. She slowly walked into yard sniffing the ground and suddenly looked up and backed out of garden. Moved down the fairway. Golf course living has its disadvantages. LOTS of deer!I have tried everything. Changed plants several times and found most they don’t like but my hydrangeas are MINE not Bambi and Thumpers!Put this down and it really works! I do reapply within 30 days but worth every penny!!Haven’t seen the rabbit since first application. Love the ease of application. No mixing or dragging a hose.Buy it! Before the plants disappear!

I have a new perennial garden and didn’t want to install a fence. It is right in the bath of deer and bunnies - also by an apple tree to draw deer. I spread the granules after a fresh mow so the granules wouldn’t be disturbed. I spread about a 3 foot wide barrier around the outside of the garden. There is an odor at first but does go away so not sure I’d use by my front door. IT WORKED WONDERFULLY!! After the gray ales I transition to the concentrate liquid to spray as needed. Didn’t lose one plant to deer or rabbits….just wish it worked on voles in the winter. Ready to spread for this year.

It seems there is a debate on this site about whether this stuff is effective on rabbits. I don't know because I just received it. But just in it's application it's a terrible product. First, the instructions for applying it are directed to a small garden and not to a lawn. So a user is forced to guess how to apply it to a lawn. Second, I have about six patches in my lawn where the critters are destroying it. The amount of repellent in this product is so small that by the time I finished spreading it around the first two patches, it was over half gone. And the granules had run out by the time I could cover the fifth and sixth patches. So basically I paid $20 to cover 3-4 patches of grass, and I don't even know if it will work. Not a lot of product value here.
