DO NOT BUY this JUNK. Amazon OMC Johnson/Evinrude Starter. That I was forced to return.The gear barely engaged the flywheel and slipped off even when the 3 bolts were completely tightened.I therefore bought a starter from another company that worked perfect.

I put this on my 1980 Johnson 100 and it did work, but as you can see from the first picture, the teeth don't fully mesh with the flywheel. I was worried about damage to the flywheel and did some reading online. There are other sellers selling this same starter and other people have reported the problem.It seems that the mounting brackets welded to the body aren't quite in the right place. I thought about cutting them off and welding them back on, but it was easier for me to strip it down and put all the new bits in the body of my old starter after cleaning it up inside with some electrical contact cleaner.
