This sling is well made. The construction is solid with double stitching throughout. My husband tried it with one of our heavy pellet guns. It works well for walking, but its too short to just lift and take a shot. He would not take this on hiking hunt. He did say the design is excellent for carrying a rifle. Its just not made to shoot with it attached to the rifle. Using it to carry a rifle to a deer stand would work great.I removed a star for 2 reasons, 1- no instructions! This is not rocket science, but it is a different design. It does not connect to sling mounts often found on rifles. So we had to pull up the listing and review the photos to figure out how to attach it. Not the end of the world, but more annoying than anything. 2- the lack if maneuverability you have with the rifle. Most slings you can use for stabilizing while shooting, and you can easily raise the rifle to a shooting position. My husband only able to raise it just above his waist, below the chest with this sling. Not a good position to shoot from. With that being said, its possible we assembled it incorrectly or used a firearm that was too long or the wrong type. Without instructions, I couldn't tell you. We did the best we could.

I've got other friction retention slings I use on some antique shotguns, and they work great. I say this to convey I am no stranger to the concept. This one is not working for me. The pleather pad that's supposed to provide the friction was sewn on the outside. Given that this strap piece is sewn to the padded shoulder strap, to get that part to function as intended, it twists the strap. Not the end of the world, but not ideal in a quality sling. I inverted it and slid it over the barrel.I was looking forward to trying a cross body support, but with the other parts slipping and not staying in place I can't even begin to fasten or trust it. Additionally, what is labeled as an elastic band appears to be nylon cord heat bonded/melted to itself (think cheap shoelace). I don't think it's 550 cord, and the bonding looks surface level only so this may be a weak point, and I'd hate to run around with a pricey shotgun or rifle that's not properly retained. On close inspection of the listing, it appears this cord is to be fed through the trigger guard. That's a big no-no for obvious safety reasons. For me, the quick release button functions to eject and discard this piece and convert the sling to a standard 2-point. The thumb loop is a nice addition, but the slack between the part that loops around the buttstock and the sling itself can never be cinched up as it's mounted at a fixed point on the sling, making this thing not adjustable in that regard, so you are left with a long droopy strap you cannot do anything about. The only adjustable portion of that remaining strap piece is just a couple of inches- basically meaningless.Other than that, the price is decent... If you can modify it and/or get it to work as a normal sling, I'd say ok, but there's other options out there that don't require any effort or questionable mounting to the trigger guard, so I cannot in good conscience recommend this.
