A pricing item that I didn't think I needed for our pond but this summer the pond got hit by the allergy bug and looked awful. So instead of calling in the professionals to clean it, I figured we should get this vacuum which will save money in the long run. It performed better than expected. Easy to setup and I was able to use the net on the end of the house so the water being vacuumed went right back into the pond and the net caught the junk which saved a lot of cleanup.

I have a koi pond with a fairly long, shallow steam bed and this works quite well in removing sludge and algae from submerged rocks. My main complaint is that the discharge hose disconnects from the unit too easily. I wish it locked in or had something to hold it on when I need to move the unit to the next area. It slides off and dumps dirty water on the patio around the pond. Overall, my pond water is looking better and staying clean longer than when I used a stiff brushed broom. And easier on my back!

I'm glad I bought this! Suction is very powerful. Also, it doesn't stop sucking, like single chamber models do according to other pond vacuum reviews. I have a small shed I keep it in, so it doesn't get weather-beaten. This thing sucks fast, but the addition of a clearish tube to view the color of what's being sucked up is a water bill money saver!I always make sure to keep moving it so black/brown stuff is coming up. My fish flee from it, so I haven't sucked a fish up while using it. Additionally, I am able to clean my fish pond using the attachments that come in the box. All in all a great purchase.

I was not sure at first, but after using it, unlike watching a video it preformed well. Extremely well. I have about 2500 gallon pond . Right under tree leaves pine needles etc. This vacuum picked up everything off of the bottom. I first ran the return hose back into the pond with the bag on the end. Got all the leaves and muck up with out loosing water. Then my filter picked up the rest. It is a great product and worth the price.

Not as efficient as I expected, still it works well. May not be intended for my application. Above ground pool, much algae and dust. Will take 2 or 3 trys to get it completely clean.

This is the only vacuum that allows me to clean all of the steps of my in ground pool. Anyone who has tried to use the pool's filter system vacuum will know that you can't use it on the top step. This vacuum is very powerful and does not require any priming. It is a little larger than I thought it would be.The only suggestion I have is that the discharge hose be a little longer and that the filter bag included be a bit finer. I have tried two other external pool vacuums with no success. This one is the best so far.

The PondoVac 3 is great! I have a small shallow pond (~10’ diameter), lots of plants a few fish, with a substrate of small stones. Over the years the algae has been a nightmare to control but this year after aggressive treatment, I managed to arrest the wild growth. However, the decomposed algae completely covered the stone substrate with very fine muck. After intensive research and reading lots of reviews I decided to give the PondoVac 3 a try, in spite of the cost. I’m glad I did.The first time I used the PondoVac, it was just a test. I cleaned a small section of the pond near the skimmer inlet of the filter and just discharged the water as waste outside the pond. I was impressed that using the small attachment (the one shown in the picture on the Amazon production information page), set at the smallest opening, it sucked up a lot of debris. I found that if I did small sections and pulled the head out of the water as soon as the water in the clear pipe showed no more muck I could maximize the cleaning effort and minimize the water loss. It was working so well that I extended my first session to a total of about 5 minutes of active use.The second time I used it the goal was to re-expose the stone in almost every part of the pond. This involved about 20 minutes of work in total and I estimate that I removed close to 80 gallons of water out of about 800. This is not too bad considering that I removed about 4 years’ worth of sludge buildup in addition to the newer later of muck from this year’s algae die off. I would also note that suction power is excellent as it did pull up several half inch diameter stones where I was not careful. I can't wait to see what it does to string algae! While it may seem that the only benefit would be a clean looking pond, there was another unexpected bonus. The pond's filter media has now lasted almost twice a long before it needed cleaning/replacing after the vacuuming sessions. So there may actually be a cost benefit to the purchase of the PondoVac if it lasts for the next 6-8 years since I probably spend close to $60 per year on filter media. If I can use just half of normal amount of filter media per year, I will save $180 over 6 year (ignoring inflation)! As with all products, there is room for improvement. The first is the discharge hose is too short. While I could purchase a second hose, it would nice if it include an extension for the price. I suspect that most pond owners would need to get the waste water more than 15 feet away from the pond. The second thing would be to add a ‘sludge bucket’ where we could collect the waste water, let the muck settle and then drain the clear water back into the pond. This is something I believe that vendor suggests, but if they sold one with a drain valve near the bottom to which a drain hose could be connected, it would make a great accessory. I would also add a word of caution. Since the PondoVac has such strong suction, experimenting to determine the best technique for different depths and jobs would seem prudent. There are lots of attachments so there is lots of flexibility one can take when approaching a particular job.In summary, I’m very pleased with the performance of the PondoVac and would purchase it again.

It did not work well enough for me. Well constructed, no doubt, but it failed miserably on the job it was purchased to carry out, remove sludge from my pond. It would stop pulling up material after ten seconds, after which it had to be recleared. I spent days getting it to perform more effectively. Nothing worked. The design will work fine, I think, for ponds that are almost clean with only a thin layer of sludge to remove. I can do that myself, thank you, without paying for a PondoVac cleaner.
