Open Farm, Raw Mix Freeze Dried Dog Food offers tasty nutrition.Key Observations:- The morsels are easy to moisten for meal preparation.- Chicken and turkey ingredients along with both broth makes this a healthy blend.- Crude protein - min. 42%- Ingredients include a wide range of vitamins and minerals- The dog food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages.- The bag provides detailed feeding guidelines which are very helpful.- The product expiration date is over a year out, providing ample time to consume the dog food.Open Farm clearly stands behind their product, displaying a QR code on the bag to learn more about their animal welfare efforts along with sustainability standards. Their mission is impressive. For your consideration:- The morsels are bigger than I expected. For my miniature doodle, I favor smaller nuggets.- The 13.5 oz bag is rather small, although the volume of food expands as you prepare meals by moistening the pieces. The quality of the poultry (free of antibiotics and no added growth hormones) and the grain free mix makes this a very healthy meal for your four-legged family member.Personal tip: I found chicken broth (in place of water) to really enhance the flavor of the 'Prairie Recipe' nuggets!Overall, the quality and value are very good.

To be fair, my dogs go nuts for every treat I get, but they seemed to especially like these. I'd rehydrate them with a little bit of water and then either top their dry food with it or just give it to them in separate dishes. They're spendier than a lot of other treats, but the quality of ingredients is significantly higher than the cheap stuff. It's definitely not something I'd feed them every day as their standard food, but as a treat they're pretty solid.

We buy this from our local pet store but they were out so luckily we found it on Amazon. THE BEST freeze dried dog treats or food adds.

My dogs love this food. It's got a very consistent size to the pieces, and they are easy to break up to use as a topper. I was impressed with the ingredients but had to look up the montmorillonite clay to find out why it was there. Turns out it's a great ingredient for dogs and helps increase nutrient absorption, so that was good to know. The chicken and turkey recipe is well received by my dogs and didn't cause any stomach upset or digestive issues. The ingredient list is all recognizable foods or vitamins/minerals - not a bunch of weird fillers.I primarily use these freeze-dried foods as a topper to my quality kibble. I would use them more, but the cost is pretty high with multiple dogs, but I really like to have these to add a little variety to their normal meals. Maybe some day the freeze-drying process will become more efficient, and the prices will be lower! But in the meantime, we'll use this as an additive and the dogs will still be happy!

I use this more as a treat or topper, but both my dog AND cat go absolutely feral for this stuff!

My three dogs love this dog food, but holy smokes is it expensive! We took it in our packs on an off-grid hiking trip and found it very convenient, as adding a cup of water makes a hearty meal of the freeze-dried dog kibble. The ingredients are top notch and have all the goodness without nasty fillers or grains. If it was cheaper I’d buy again, but I can’t justify the price point when I can carry a couple pounds of regular kibble in my pack (or train my doggies to carry it in pup saddlebags).

My dog is a very picky eater. I've tried over 50 different kibble brands and flavors. it was a zero, nadda, don't like for her. For the most part, she completely refused to even eat a small amount of them. But she does love home cooked food. Which for years, that's what I've had to feed her, until I finally found a wet food that she likes. She also has always like dog jerky. Especially if they are chewy, but not too hard to chew. (She's getting older.)Every so often, I try a freeze-dried, as a snack for her. Some she'll eat, some she won't. And these, she seems to like. She's not doing zoomies, when she sees that she's going to get some, but eats all of it, that I give her.Problem though with this one, is the price. It's even more expensive than the high-grade, slices of pure meat, jerky; that I give her for treats. And she prefers the jerky over these freeze-dried, for certain. So yes, good stuff, just overpriced. ($2.74 / Ounce on 2/26/2025)
