The first one of the switch that I ordered came with no product box and all of the package contents loose in the plastic insert that is supposed to come in a product box. So.. I ordered a replacement and after paying for a UPS return pickup that was what I recall as $7.99 I received my replacement within something like 3 days and after testing the replacement switch I have to give it a 5 star review for value , quality and ease of use.

I've been using this KVM for several days and I'm impressed with it. Currently, I'm running three computers through it: a Mac Mini, a Dell Laptop, and a HP desktop (for gaming). There are some quirks, but I suspect this is more related to KVMs in general, than this specific unit. It takes an average of 3.5 to 4 seconds to switch from one channel to another, with the Mac taking almost 5 seconds. Usually, the Mac will connect fine, but occasionally, it will have to "resync" the monitor for a second or two - the monitor goes blank during this time. I'm not sure what causes this, but it only happens on the Mac, so I assume it's an issue with the macOS suddenly seeing a monitor again. On the Dell Laptop, once it couldn't see the mouse. I fixed this by cycling to another computer and back again. This only happened once, so it doesn't seem to be a chronic issue (most likely it's a Windows problem). Windows gives me the chime when the USB devices are connected and disconnected, which is kind of annoying, but not too much. I use the chimes as a way to know that the KVM reconnected successfully. The unit is all metal construction and heavy. The bottom corners of box are "sharpish" - there's no danger of injury, but not a good feel. I found it doesn't need the power supply to function, and I haven't had it plugged into power; it's been working fine without it. The unit itself hasn't gotten hot at all. In fact, it's not even warm. Not directly related to the KVM, but when a computer isn't the one on the monitor, the sound reverts back to the internal speakers. Which is nice, so you can hear a message or email come through while you're working on a different computer. There was not much to the packaging. The unit itself was stabilized in the box, but everything else wasn't (not really an issue, as it's just cords, but I found it strange in this day of "pretty packaging"). It came with a power supply, four short USB cables, an RS232 connector (apparently these are still used on legacy broadcast systems), and wing brackets for mounting. However, it did not have an HDMI cable, which I think for the home user, would have been a nice addition. People probably have a HDMI for each computer, but they may not have an extra to use with the KVM.It came with a remote, which is the faster way to go "back" to the previous computer. Otherwise, you need to press the button on the front, which sequences in one way (1 > 2 > 3 > 4). The remote is handier than expected, as it makes going directly to a specific computer faster. However, it looks the same both right-side up and upside-down, so you can select the wrong button if you can't see the remote clearly (there is no easily defined orientation to the remote).I'm using a wired keyboard (Apple), Dell monitor, and Logitech mouse (G502 Hero) - have had no issues with the switch with any of these. I would have liked to have separate buttons on the front or top of the unit to go directly to a channel, and/or software key commands to switch channels. However, overall, this KVM switch is performing very well.Would I buy it again or recommend this to friend: YES!

I have an Ubuntu laptop and two Raspberry Pi's sitting on my desk, with another Pi on order. (I hope it doesn't get backordered.) I have an HDMI switch attached to a separate monitor, so I can switch the display between computers, but that doesn't help with keyboard or mouse. So I've been connecting to the Raspberry Pi's with either ssh or VNC. It works, but it can get cumbersome. With this KVM, I can switch back and forth between all my machines, and it's as though I'm on a monitor, keyboard & mouse connected to that machine. In my case, it didn't really clear up desk space so much as it kept me from having to clutter up my desk with additional peripherals. (Since I didn't have the extra keyboards and mice to get rid of.)I like that this is nice and heavy. Too many things like this (Ethernet switches, USB hubs, etc) are made out of lightweight plastic, and the cables themselves keep it from sitting flat where you want it. (If cables were as flat and straight as all the marketing pictures, it wouldn't be a problem. But all of mine, at least, look more like a corkscrew than a straight cable.) I put this unit where I wanted it, and it hasn't moved a millimeter, unless I reached out to reposition it myself. It would be nice if the circuitry for the port switching button on the unit was smart enough to know how many devices are plugged in, so that if you only had two devices it would only switch between ports 1 & 2 when you push the button, instead of cycling through ports 3 & 4 as well, but that just shows how lazy I am. (Err, I mean energy efficient.)One additional benefit is that I won't be continually plugging and unplugging a keyboard and mouse. I never really thought about it until I started using Raspberry Pi's. With a laptop or desktop, you just plug in a device when you need it, and unplug it when you're done. But since the components of the Pi are so visible, it's much more noticable that you are stressing the connections between the port and the board it's soldered to. With this KVM, I have cables pluged into the HDMI and USB ports, but they will stay there. No more tugging, twisting and pulling on them, which has to weaken the solder connection over time.(By the way, I'm sorry there's no pictures with this review. The vendor supplied ones are pretty accurate, and my desk is so horribly messy that I'm ashamed to show it.)

Not only did this product almost immediately fall apart (the USB-A port literally fell out), but it just doesn't work. It doesn't detect inputs or transmit a signal to the pc it's plugged into.

I have multiple computers at my desk that I like to share a single screen and keyboard with. I thought this option would be a great way to improve convenience at my desk while also better managing clutter and cables. At first, it appeared to be working, with computers automatically recognizing when the KVM switched to their input and the monitor and keyboard interacting with the changes seamlessly as well. The remote control for the switch worked flawlessly too.Unfortunately, one of the video inputs is not working. I tried multiple HDMI cables and connected that input to my TV, but nothing worked. The USB hub was detected properly, and the computer seemed to recognize briefly that a new video output was connected, but no image appeared on my monitor. So instead of a 4-source KVM, I have a 3.5 source KVM. I cannot speak to this product's quality control, but it is inconvenient to have to tear down four computers' worth of cables and set up something different. At this price, there are other options with high review counts worth exploring.
