The kit has everything you need, but the instructions for every single bookmark is printed on one tiny page. A lot of the shades are very similar in order to create shading, and it's really difficult to determine which colors are of what shade. This could be very easily resolved with a larger guide, possibly a booklet, that uses symbols to designate specific colors.

These bookmarks will make great gifts for kids. I work in the library and we like to give them prizes when they've done really great in class. These are something the kids would absolutely enjoy. It was also really fun for me to make for them!Right now space is really in so the kids are going to absolutely love the way they look to.

I wouldn’t call this perfect for beginners. The instructions are a little lacking. It shows you exactly what color goes where with a key to the side and the code numbers match the numbers printed on the skeins. That part is easy. The designs are simple.What’s not easy? How many strands do you use? Some cross stitch kits call for splitting the thread, some don’t, but all tell you what you should do. This didn’t. I’ve done a few and I’m not playing thread chicken, so I’m guessing don’t split and that’s why they said nothing, but I shouldn’t have to guess. They also don’t warn you that you need to ball the thread or put it on a bobbin. I worry folk will try to work straight off the skein and get a tangled mess.They show clearly how to do cross stitch in the boxes, but all of the letttering is not counted cross stitch. The lettering is not cross stitch, and there are a few options there. I went with backstitch as it seemed the simplest and most logical. Long stitch was another good option. There is no guidance which to use and no instuctions for either. So if you want to learn on a kit, this isn’t the best choice for a first kit. It’s good for a second or later beginner kit, once you know how to do the stitches and want practice.The photos here are how they look before they are stitched. No one square has mulitple colors in it. There is no confusion. It’s also a very dark print, which is great for anyone with weak eyesight. I know a few seniors who do needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery and the like, and canvases with very pale print is a problem for them. This is ideal for that community.The dye fades in the wash, and doesn’t stain the white of the fabric, but honestly, I hand wash at least the first time in excess of paranoia.The designs are beautiful and even stitched, they are thin enough to act as a nice bookmark in a larger book. They might be a bit too big for mass market paperbacks depending on how far out you want your bookmark to extend.They come with ample needles, child-safe thread scissors, and a a very cute flower needle threader.

These bookmarks are simply beautiful. They are great for beginner cross-stitchers. Whether you like stamped cross-stitch or counted cross-stitch, these are perfect for you! You get 6 bookmarks, more than enough floss, several needles, a needle threader, and a pair of scissors. You also get directions. I would definitely recommend them to everyone!
