Often, the standard 4.5 mm OD inserts are just a bit too small, depending on the printed hole size in which they are heat-inserted.These come in at 4.99mm length x 5.01mm OD. That's pretty much perfect versus the stated specs. Having purchased others that were supposed to be 5mm OD only to find them at the same 4.6mm, this was a good find.The threads are smoothly cut and fit standard M3 cap head screws perfectly.Good price for decent size package as well.

I used these for some 3d printed knobs and a custom device I created to securely hold a cord by tightening a screw down onto it. In both cases it is important that the screw be secured well and not become loose with repeated use by wearing down the plastic. Plastic formed as thin as screw threads has strength limited by size. Since the plastic melts around the insert and then flows into the knurling sections you do not have friction on the plastic whenever tightening or loosening a screw and instead of a thin piece of plastic providing support you have metal which is gripped by plastic across the entire outer surface of the insert - much, much stronger.
