So our 13 year old dog can't make the jump into the back of my Jeep Cherokee anymore. I've been picking her up, but neither of us likes that too much. This ramp is a quality product and it helps, but here are some thoughts on the pros and cons to consider.Pros: Very sturdy build, feels heavy duty. It has a carabiner that clips to the latch hook on my vehicle so it's very stable and not going to slide off while in use. It folds up compactly and has a built in fabric covered handle to easily carry it. It weighs about 15 pounds; the weight initially surprised me when I took it out of the box since it's listed as "lightweight" and I thought maybe the product info was a typo and it was 5 lbs instead of 15 lbs. I weighed it to double check that the listing info is correct and yep, just over 15 pounds. It is still easier and more compact than the stepstool we have sometimes carted around for her in the past.Cons: The weight of 15 lbs. could be a drawback for some, though I didn't find it hard to carry. For me the biggest cons are the angle, which is a bit steep when anchored to my vehicle, and the carpeted surface which doesn't provide much traction. I had to hold her harness and help her go up because she slid back down after the first couple of steps (she weighs about 48 lbs and her nails are not clipped short). The second time she didn't even want to try to go up, but I guided her and gave her some support with the harness and she did make it up the ramp. I think a non-skid rubber type tread would be more practical than the carpet. Also again it's a steep angle so maybe if it was a little longer it would be easier too. I originally ordered this for my husband's F150, but the truck is so much higher than my Cherokee I can tell she wouldn't be able to get up there by using this ramp at all.I'm still rating this ramp at 4 stars for the quality design and build of the product, but consider with care before buying, based on the height of your vehicle (or other) that you want to use it with and make sure it's a good fit for your dog.

Our girl Pearl likes it (although she's too young to need it)!If you are buying this ramp you may either have a small animal or an aging one. There are some things to consider... Reliability. Utility. Safety.Pros:1. The ramp is well-made and appears durable and certainly strong enough for your dog (it's rated 250 pounds).2. Corners do not appear to have been cut in the manufacturing process. The welds are done well.3. The links are strong & the frame itself is buttressed (see photo). The fasteners are seeded (slightly dented into) indicating that they were really tightened down.4. The paneling with the felt that represents the center of the ramp seems to be made of a kind of thick hard plastic. This is important (to me) because since it is covered up it could have been made with wood or some material that would be destroyed (and become dangerous) from moisture.Considerations:The overall length may be too short for this to be practical for an SUV hatch or truck bed. It may not be visible from the picture but the pitch angle is high. It would be a bit scary to use for a large dog. Practically speaking, it really is better suited to be a ramp for a back seat.It also has a tendency to fold in on itself or slide. If that happens or not is going to depend on your application.Although it is not heavy, it is made of steel and not aluminum and therefore is not light. That may matter to you.Overall, I would recommend it with the big caveat that it is simply is not suited to taller vehicles.

Chewbacca approved! We have a Leonberger/cattle dog mix that is over 100 pounds at the last vet visit. He's big, hairy and has the colors of the Star Wars character. He also sounds like him when he barks/howls. But he is horrible when it comes to getting in our JEEP Wrangler to go for a ride. He's so big that he tends to hit his head or bounce off a seatback when jumping in. But with this ramp, he can just glide right up. No more embarrassing landings or tumbles! The ramp seems to be very strong as it supports my 184 lbs without complaints. It also has a good grip for dogs paws with the indoor/outdoor like carpet it is covered with. We also have 2 more dogs. One of which is a Lab/Staffie mix that can just jump through a window and land like a gymnast and an old, Wiener/Corgi mix that likes the ramp also. He struts up the ramp like he's the King of Poland or something. Hahaha, much pomp and circumstance with Oscar Mayer. The ramp should have red carpet just for him I guess. All in all this ramp should work for any dog. Large or small, young or old. And it should work for just about any vehicle weather it is in a side door or tailgate. It also folds up into a fairly small package about the size of 2 briefcases with a nice handle. The weight isn't bad either. Probably lighter than 2 full briefcases for sure. Most likely, a 10 year old kid could handle this ramp without much trouble. Definitely recommend if your dogs have trouble getting in and out of a vehicle or, they just think they should be treated like royalty. A lot less stress for everyone.

The product is very sturdy and well built. However, be prepared for a very heavy product which makes it somewhat hard to maneuver
