This is a replacement filter/pump for what has worked great and lasted well. This product was received in a very flimsy package that looked like it may have busted open for some reason and part of the product was sticking out of the box. The box was split down two sides and had been taped numerous times to hold it together. We contacted the company....we inspected the product and it appears to be ok but we wont know until we hook up our pool in May. Also, the motor that was sent with this filter has a date of 2020 on it. The 5 year date kind of concerns us but we are hoping for the best! The original filter/pump worked wonderful for 11 years.

Do not buy. Pump leaks after 5 hours of use. I see another reviewer said the same exact problem. Stay away from this brand of pump and as far as the seller I will update when I have a response. But the other reviewer said they wanted the whole package back. Like that review, my filter is full of sand and all hooked up. Just need the pump replaced. Hope this helps. Sad when in Maine the season is short and now just became shorter because of a defective pump. Waste of money and time in my experience with this deal.

Main thing I was worried about was the shipping.. I seen this same pump on other websites and seen bad feedback so I totally took a risk when ordering! Only thing was, there was no tracking info and it came 1 day late. Keep in touch with amazon and make sure everything is going okay. What made me choose this pump was the helpful feed back from an amazon customer who posted a vid showing how well the pump worked!I've had this for 7 days now. Assembly was a few hours. We made sure to go over instuctions and took steps as we went along.. I am so happy I bought this! Like nothing I've ever had!! My pool is literally crystal clear! I am so amazed! It is powerful! My new pool vac sucks everything extremely fast! The pump allows you to switch to waste so you're not putting leaves and debris through the sand filter! My skimmer is pulling anything floting into the basket like wow!! My pool is so clean and there's less work to do.. I still keep a pool cover on for algae when it rains. I already see I am putting less chemicals in but going to go for once a week to be on the safe side.. Oh and my pool has a very nice temperature right now! I figured because the power of the pump keeps the water moving all the time! Hope this was helpful. I'm glad everything is going okay. I am so happy!!

I replaced my emerson pump and triton 2 filter with this one about a month ago. My old ones were about ten years old and the filter ruptured. The emerson pump was only 3/4 HP and had great flow. Its a 30 foot pool and the pump would push you around the whole thing like a lazy river. Got this new bigger pump thinking it would be even better. Its half the power. Ill probably keep the sand filter on and may hook up my old pump. It was really easy to hook up because it all snaps into a provided base but it is very weak. Even in the skimmer the bugs and floating leaves just swirl around instead of getting sucked down to the filter. You get what you pay for with this stuff and it was cheap so I fell for it.

Got this pool filter system at a great price! I was a little nervous at first when we received the product. The box seemed to be quite beat up. However, there was nothing wrong with the system because it was protected in the box. This was the fault of the shipping not the company that sent it. We just got it all put together this week (weather finally cooperated) and it runs beautifully!

We bought a summer waves elite 24' x 52" pool last season. The pump that came with it burnt up that yr. We ordered this pump from Amazon. Recieved it fast as always ! This pump and filter is awesome, great pressure and keeps the pool so much cleaner, this set up is worth every penny ! We love it !

Much quieter than my Haywood pump, both are 1.5HP but this Pentair is less than 1/2 the DB.Cartridge filters are a pain, they are expensive to replace and a real pain to clean - this filter uses sand and is IMHO a major upgrade. Sand is a much better media than a filter. I have a lot of organic (tree pollen is big in my area) that gets into my pool and now it's a simple backwash. My pool supply store told me I could run the new "glass" type sand, which gives better results but I just did normal sand. Added 250lbs.For those that talk about getting sand in their pool, they must have installed wrong. As long as this filter is installed correctly and no defects there will not be sand in the pool. My guess is somebody forgot to hand tighten the 'fingers' at the bottom of the filter tank before installing. Now there is a big red sticker telling you to do just that.Filter design is simple, there are fingers at the bottom, water passes in from the top, thru the same and out the fingers, After your sand gets dirty, you then backwash. You will also want to "RINSE" the sand for the first few min of operation after putting in the new sand or backwashing.Putting in the sand was the worst part, mostly as I have a cramped area and those bags weigh 50lbs each. There is a special 'cap' you put on to fill the sand. The insructions were a bit vauge about what the cap was for but I figure it out. I covers the standpipe, so sand does not get it there. You also need to have the filter 1/2 full of water. This will prevent damage to the fingers as you dump sand on them. There is little to no install instructions, but they did show you how to put the filter together. There is only a few parts so it's easy to figure out.The fittings accept standard 1 1/2 screw in or union PVC Sch 40 type fittings. One bad is that the electric cord is only 3 feet long. I needed 4 feet. But easy enough to replace with a 14G tool replacement cord they sold at HD.The waste / discharge hose is a bit too short, but it's easy to buy a longer one.
