Great thermometer. I love the different colors and brightness that you can choose from. It really adds ambiance. But the greatest part is the remote tells you the temp! No more trying to drag the thermometer from the middle of the pool to see the temp!

There are many pool thermometers on the market. I got this one because it had the handy dandy remote that told you what the pool temp was from inside your home. Or so I thought. First, the digital display is hard to see except in low light settings. Second, I have to be 20 feet or less from the device to get a temp reading or to turn the lights off. So, the handy dandy remote isn’t so handy or dandy. The display on the floater is big, so that makes it easier to read. I do not have another pool thermometer to test it with, but it feels like the temp is accurate. Quality is fine for the price. I am deducting two stars because the main reason I got it was for the remote, and it’s useless. You might as well get a cheaper pool thermometer without the remote.

I had a lot of issues with this item. I thought it was charged out of the box since the screen turned on, and it gave temp, but then when I tried using it, the light kept flashing indicating the battery was low. It also has a battery level indicator on the screen (which is a nice feature). I thought the solar panel would have charged it the next day but then I realized after reading instructions that the solar panel only charges the lights. The temp reading on it was also way off, so I figured it was due to battery. So I pulled it out of the pool and hooked it up to the usb charger to let it charge the next night. I noticed when I connected it to the charger it was blinking red light. The next day the light was still blinking and battery indicator still only showed one bar. I re-read through instructions and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t charging. I was about to give up and figured I would give it one more night, so I tried messing with charger again and the light was still blinking red, so I just let it sit over night. They next morning the light was no longer blinking and it now showed full battery. I still have no idea how or what happened to make it actually charge that time, but it seemed to finally charge. So I put it in the pool. I checked it a few hours later and the temp now seemed to be closer to what it should be, but still seemed to be off. I compared it to another temp gauge on my actual pool heating equipment and it was 4 degrees high. I kinda blamed the discrepancy on the fact that it’s floating around in direct sunlight but then I realized that’s what it is supposed to be doing. So the temp may just not be very accurate or I may have gotten a faulty one. Anyway, that first night I tried using the remote to turn on the lights, and nothing came on. I re-read instructions again and it says the lights are powered by the solar panel, and it was a normal sunny bright day. I tried replacing the battery in remote, but it still didn’t work. I am sort of thinking now I must’ve gotten a faulty item.The only reason I gave it 2 instead of 1 star is mainly because it does seem to be well made as far as the material. It’s solid and not cheap plastic feeling. Also the remote is not the cheap thin remotes that come with most led lights. The remote feels like a sturdy remote. I also really really like that the remote displays the temp and can be mounted on wall. That’s what makes this specific item better than the other similar ones.I am going to try returning it for another. Hopefully I just got a damaged one.

So everything about this thermometer for the pool was amazing, and accurate. Our thermometer doesn’t work any more in our system, or at least we can’t figure out how to pull it up on the system anymore. This was the perfect solution. It also seemed like a fun little pool gadget to try. I charged it for a couple hours, and I peeled the plastic off the solar panel before placing in pool. We get a lot of sun in the back, afternoon sun, but a lot of it, so I was happy that I wasn’t going to have to charge it all the time. I then put batteries (not included) in the remote and within minutes the temp was an exact match on the remote, as it was in the pool, on the thermometer. It still remains accurate, after a few days. I haven’t figured out all of the buttons on the remote yet, but when I do, I’ll return to add more info, correct anything, if needed. I think it lights up different colors, but I haven’t seen any really visible when I press buttons, other than the red solid, and blinking, when charging/charged. I’ve been a bit too busy to read all directions through again, and view it at night tho, but wanted to review what I have so far. As of now, the only issue is that I had to pull it out of the pool to charge it again, the charge lasted a couple of days, but that means the solar panel seems useless. This wouldn’t be such a big deal, except for the price tag. With a price tag of $50, everything should work, and work well. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning and why I took away a star. Overall, I am very happy with this pool thermometer tho, and do recommend it for its sturdiness and accuracy. Plus having the remote is a huge bonus.

I got this for our place at the lake, where we have a beach and a surrounding dock and deck arrangement that creates a sort of artificial cove. We have solar lights on the dock that make patterns in the water, so the lights on this floating thermometer will add a nice touch of color to the water at night.We obviously can’t control the temperature of the lake, but it’s fun to know how warm (or cool) the water is for guests during the course of the summer. The digital display is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. I like the fact that the backlit display fires up at night for four hours after dusk. Having the remote control to read temps and control the LED lights on the floating unit is awesome.When I first opened the unit I was a bit disappointed that it did not use a USB-C charging port, since I’m trying to standardize all my cables. Thinking it over, the magnetic charging system significantly improves the waterproofing of the unit, so it will be worth it to have to keep track of the specialized cable. Besides, hopefully the sun will take care of the vast majority of charging this unit.We’re still a few weeks away from having the dock in the water and everything lit up, and a few more weeks before we’re swimming comfortably, so it will be a while before this unit hits its full glory, but it’s ready.
