This portable radio is a reliable, old-school device that provides clear AM, FM, and shortwave reception. It's lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry, and includes a headphone jack for private listening. While the tuning dial can be a bit tricky, it generally locks onto signals well. The shortwave feature is a nice bonus, though finding stations can be challenging. The plastic build is typical for its price, but the radio is a good value for those needing a simple, portable option.

I was amazed at the quality of sound coming out of this pocket sized transistor radio when I first turned it on. I was also very pleased with the sensitivity and selectivity of the receiver on all of the bands it features. It picked up more stations than a more expensive radio I own. A great pocket sized radio for the money!

The product description says it takes 3.5mm earphones but I have not been able to get sound out of my headphones that are 3.5mm. Other then that I'm very happy with the functionality and size

This is a nice little portable radio. It is very light and small, with a single speaker that provides good sound. It’s not the best, but it is actually quite good for this price range. I like that it has a strap so you can hang it up, and the headphone jack is a great addition for private listening. Both FM and AM stations come in clearly, which is exactly what I needed. The shortwave feature is a nice bonus. Not many radios in this price range offer it. Finding shortwave stations can be a bit of a challenge, as it depends on the time of day and location. However, I was amazed that I was able to pick up a station, even though I haven’t explored this feature much yet. I mostly use the FM and AM, but I am looking forward to experimenting more with the shortwave to find international and national stations. For the price, this is a great radio and an excellent value. I recommend it to anyone looking for a portable, reliable option with some extra features.

I had thought that transistor radios were a thing of the past, but during a recent Internet outage at my home I was thankful to have this old school device to tune into local radio when my normal streaming services were unavailable. The reception for all three bands was great. Sound was clear. It has a plastic housing which is to be expected at this price point so take care with it. So thankful to have had it on hand.

Pros:-Good FM reception.-Uses 2 standard AA batteries, not included.-Has a pleasant sounding speaker that is not too tinny.-Has an easy to use tuning knob.-Has a Telescopic antenna.-Has a headphone jack.-Has a lanyard.-Has good even feet and sits stably.-Power turns completely off, so there is no parasitic draw on batteries.Cons:-Has poor AM reception and mediocre SW reception.-Volume control is reversed, turn down to increase volume.-Lacks a tuning LED.-Lacks a backlight.-Lacks weather band.-Lacks flashlight.I'm not sure who actually makes this radio, but it is an exact clone of the RETEKESS V117 and performs identically to it. The only difference being, the brand stamped on it, and that the RETEKESS V117 is black, whereas this Tomashi 6123 radio is silver. They are both good sounding and well performing radios for their size and price class.I noticed in the Q&A section that someone asked if this is a true analog radio and they answered the question incorrectly. This is a digital radio, that has a digital tuner, using an analog tuning scale. There is a big difference between this and a true analog radio. True analog radios are very rare these days.I have a very large portable radio collection, so I can make an accurate comparison between radios. This radio is better than average and has a better than average speaker and FM tuner. The AM reception is poor, but that is not uncommon in these modern generation of small portable radios. AM reception seems to be some afterthought these days. The shortwave reception is just mediocre, but can get much better by clipping on an external antenna. At the current selling price of $18.99, this radio is a little overpriced for what you get, but not badly so. I would highly recommend this radio if you don't have need of weather band, or if you don't need a flashlight built into your radio.

This TOMASHI brand portable AM FM shortwave Radio - 3 band transistor radio is compact and simple to operate. Unfortunately It did not perform very well for me. On the shortwave band I was really only able to pick up 2 total broadcasts with one barely coming in. On AM I only seemed to get two stations and on FM only a small handful though I get dozens on my car stereo and other radios I have. The tuning has a very close or short tuning band and it will wander. When you get a signal and let go of the knob it will drift off of it. I don't mean to be too harsh on this radio because I wanted to like it, mainly because living in Hurricane country where storms and power outages are relatively common I could really use a good but compact battery operated radio. This unit runs on two AA batteries (not included) and the sound quality is about what I would expect for a low end old school battery operated transistor radio. I gave this radio two stars because it works but I would not order it again.
