As someone who spent part of his teens and 20s in the 90s, I have a ridiculous amount of CDs…which had been rendered obsolete thanks to the rise of streaming and drive-less players. After a pang of nostalgia, I went looking for a CD player to scratch that itch and let my mix CDs fly high again!I found this one, which felt like it would tick a lot of boxes for me. Compact, built in speakers, FM tuner, rechargeable battery…this should have been an absolute WIN. The reality was …not.So the good. Yes, this is a small footprint with built in speakers. If you have a small area that you can use this in, this fits the bill. The player itself is not much wider than a CD itself, and because the CD stands vertically in the player, it doesn’t take up a lot of depth on a shelf. It does indeed run off of a rechargeable battery, so you can take it camping, to the beach or anywhere you may not readily have power. Additionally, it charges via USB-C, so a widely available cable. Now the not so good. First and foremost, the display is situated on top of the player. But because of how the player is angled (the CD sits at a roughly 20 degree angle with the print on the CD facing you), you have to be standing over the player to read the display. The buttons are also next to the small display. They aren’t marked well (black on black), so it’s difficult to read. I may be taking some white paint to the buttons in hopes of making them more legible.Very odd thing about this player…it doesn’t have a stop button. There’s a play/pause button, skip forward, skip back…but no stop. I found I had to pause the CD and then cut the power, otherwise would need to play it until it died.I was also excited that this had an FM tuner built in…but using it was a little confusing. You reach it by hitting the M (which stands for Mode) button until you reach FM tuner, then use the direction buttons to get to a station you want to listen to. But without any sort of memory function, scrolling through every single possible frequency. If you want to go from Country 93.9 to rap hits 105.9…you better have time and something protecting your finger. The speakers themselves are … okay. They’re listed as “HiFi” speakers, but given the size of the player, you have to know going in they aren’t going to be very big and won’t sound that great. They’re not awful by any stretch, but any decent set of computer speakers blows it out of the water.I’ll be honest, I really hoped to get my mom one of these. She’s got a small space, so something like this would’ve been perfect. However, if I have trouble figuring this out, she DEFINITELY would. This will go in the “we’re having a power outage” supply, as a means of keeping some form of entertainment or a way to hear emergency broadcasts. But I don’t see this getting regular usage by any stretch of the imagination. This needs a better display, more prominently labeled buttons, more intuitive UI and at the very least, a stop button.

I ordered this portable CD player/radio for my mother. My mother has a big collection of her favorite music CDs and needed something that is not complicated for her to use. It also has a remote control for easy listening. This player was perfect for her because it is easy to use, portable, and has great sound. She likes the radio function to listen to music and local current events. The machine color is white and matches everything. The player is small, lightweight, and easy to move to any room or back porch where she can listen to music with headphones or out loud to drive me crazy. It charges with a USB cable quickly and holds a charge for a long time. This cute little player is everything she wanted for her music enjoyment, which is important to her. This would make a great gift for anyone who still listens to compact discs. I recommend this MICOCIOUS Portable CD Player with Bluetooth to friends.
