I liked the Yellow Brick Road Bag and the Cinderella bag with the pumpkin coach purse, but most of the projects in this book could have appeared in any collection of knitting patterns. Nothing but their titles and descriptions scream "fairy tale." Some of the lace and cabled projects have charts, but many don't. Unfortunately, the ones I would have considered knitting don't. There are quite a few shrugs and capelets. I'd suggest looking through the selection of patterns, either in person or online, before purchasing.

I bought this for my mom because she knits sometimes. I thought this was a unique pattern book for her to follow, not the usual knitting pattern book and I loved the inspiration for these. I book marked a few projects for her. :)

Is it ok to be in love with a book? Well, I am with this one. Excellent photography and designs that are as enchanting as they are inspiring. The first project I am going to knit is the Snow White Shrug, but I don't look great in white knits, so this will be knitted in a fabulous red (Rose Red Shrug?). I am so looking forward to starting. Downside for non-US knitter's: majority of yarns are from USA brands, and cannot be found (yet) in the UK. But if you are willing to do some research on fibre content and tension of other yarns, this book is still worth every penny. Therefore, I am still giving it 5 stars.

I had bought Genevieve Millers Vampire Knits a while back and I fell in love with every aspect of the book; all of the great patterns and photos! This book, Once Upon a Knit, just like the previous one has been beautifully put together. With that alone, I can just sit and look at the book all day. ;) I have not started any patterns from this book yet, but from the previous book, I can say it was easy to follow the directions from the projects I did attempt.

This book has so many wonderful patterns that you will want to enlist the services of every storybook character to help you knit every item in the book. The patterns themselves are as stunning as the photos throughout the book. The biggest problem that I am having is deciding which garment to make first. I know that this knitting book is going to be a staple in my knitting bag for many years to come.

When I checked this book out from the library my kids kept bugging me to make so many of the patterns that I went ahead and bought the book. I have made the dragon toy from the book and it was a nightmare. I lost count of the number of errors in the pattern and question if anyone bothered to check this pattern for accuracy. Thankfully I knew enough about knitting to figure out how to fix the mistakes and my son will get his dragon for Christmas but is was absolutely no fun making. I have been unable to find any pattern corrections anywhere. The one thing that might redeem this book is that it is a compilation of patterns from many designers, so I have hopes that the patterns from the other designers will not be so riddled with mistakes.

You know how some themed pattern books are filled with stuff that you really couldn't see yourself either making or finding a use for when you're done with them? Well, this is a thematically oriented pattern book that actually contains patterns that look fun to make and use.
