Very soft material that my society finches go through in less than a week. No worries about their feet getting caught.

The first photo are of George and Gracie, the second are Ricky and Lucy. Each egg laying pair have their own large flight cage. I just bought George and Gracie a new flight cage, because both pairs have started nesting for the first time.I'm new to nesting birds, so I've done a lot of research on their needs. I've even included hair from our home, COVID-19 haircuts (very popular with both sets of finches) and dryer lint (you read it right). The clean lint proved to be extremely popular with both sets too. I've also offered coconut fiber (popular), and sphagnum moss (not so much. Left it sitting).I thought I'd offer one more thing. I bought 3 boxes. When I offer nesting material, I offer very small amounts. I don't want them over building. I also pick everything apart, and cut things short. I don't want any tragic accidents, like feet getting tangled.I cut the threads into ~ 1/2" lengths. Out of the box, they're about 2" long. I just grabbed a bunch and cut a bunch at once, to this approximate length. I offered it to each pair and it wasn't 5 minutes before all of the birds were carrying the thread to their nests. It was hilarious. They looked like they'd grown fuzzy beards!George and Gracie have 5 eggs. Ricky and Lucy have 3 so far. Gracie also had fun throwing the threads around, playing, at first.I've only used 1/2 of a box so far. I'm sure both pairs would use all of the thread offered. I highly recommend cutting it first though.

This nesting material is perfect for small & medium size birds. I would recommend a minimum of one 3-pack per nesting bird. They tend to build, tear down & rebuild their nests and can go through a lot of material. Also, after there are babies in the nest, it's a good idea to have additional nesting material on hand to replace soiled portions of the nest.
