Defender Security U 10745 Bronze Lock and Door Reinforcer assists in preventing forced entry by reinforcing the weak spot of an entry door. It can be used to reinforce and repair both metal and wood doors. Made of solid brass construction, the lock reinforcer plate comes finished in bronze. All the necessary mounting hardware is included for a quick and easy installation. The lock reinforcement plate is pre-punched for mounting. The reinforcer is designed for 1-3/4 inch thick doors that have mortise or drive-in latches. It features one 2-1/8 inch bore with a 2-3/8 inch backset. The door reinforcer is non-recessed. Our door latchbolt & faceplate were loose within the door which meant that sometimes it wouldn't line up with the strike plate and not close correctly. this reinforcement plate squeezed the door together and reduced that looseness greatly so now when we close the door it latches properly.

My neighborhood is a little sketchy at times and these reinforcers are a nice addition.One tip: don't use the 4 short little screws that come with it. Imagine your lock twisting when some big guy kicks in your door and those screws pulling right out. Instead, set some big nasty bolts into it. I picked up the allen heads in the picture at home Depot for a few bucks.Hold the reinforcer in place and use a drill guide to drill straight through those holes and come out in the right spot on the other side. Nothing less than a battering ram will get through it now!Update: I noticed a lot of cold air getting under this lock over the winter. The pending solution is to cut a square piece of soft packaging sheet-style foam, put a hole in the middle the size of the knob hole, and then install the foam under the outside face of the device.

Product is sturdy and easy to install. And was a much cheaper alternative to replacing a door which had been damaged during an attempted burglary. It hides the scuff marks and strengthened the door so it was a win win.
