If you can manage to do the dimo correctly it will sound marvelous. Huge difference between this and my other bamboo one, not only does it sound better but somehow it's easier to play as well and the rosewood finish just looks great. If you prefer a more mellow and broad sound then this beats the bamboo ones easily. Only con would be that it's slightly heavier than the bamboo ones but that was expected.

I love it. My new favorite. Only things are that the Chinese knot doesn’t match the picture. Not that I care, I don’t mind, but it doesn’t match. The lacquer came off near the hole you cover with the reed paper so there’s a rip going down it. I genuinely don’t mind that, it’s cute, but I should mention. Be extremely careful with tape because it can rip the lacquer. There is a noticeable stain on one of the inside cupronickel inserts. Doesn’t bother me because it isn’t noticeable when playing since the other side of the insert covers it, but still noting it. The reed paper that comes with it is not as good of the quality as the extras I bought. Despite all these notes, it’s quite a lovely instrument. I play it a lot. It’s basically a fife with less range but I’m fine with that

Quality is good but when I twisted the flute when connecting it together one piece broke. Turns out it was glued together, should be easy enough to fix.

The C key rosewood dizi itself came in as described, nicely crafted, keys are accurate. Finger chart was missing from said accessories.

I consider myself a beginner on dizi but I have several in different keys. I have purchased them all online from China. This time I needed a D dizi quickly. Also the ability to return if necessary. I thought it seemed great when I first tried it but I also had the director of our Chinese orchestra try it and he responded Good. (he speaks very little English) I would recommend to anyone.

Ottimo flauto.. Qualità - prezzo.. fatto in legno di rosa. Ho gia uno in bambu in E key che ha un suono morbido. Questo in legno di rosa in D key mantiene la sonorità tipica del dizi ma con un suono piu corposo. Anche se non scritto contiene pure la colla per la membrana. Manca il foglio con la ditteggiatura (menzionato nella descrizione) ma facilmente scaricabile dal Web.

He comprado la C que creo que es la más grave, y tras haber usado las de principiantes, esto es otro mundo, eso sí, si no sabes no la compres porque incluso cuando ya llevas tiempo con la principiante debes adaptarte a esta que es más complicada, pero tocas 5 notas descolocadas al azar y ya parece que haces música xd.

I love this flute already! Beginners beware! The membrane application will make it super hard to play at first, so here's an example of playing using electrical tape over the hole dimo hole. It won't create the end sound of the Dizi, but its perfect for starting out and creating sound. The membranes themselves are not pre cut, so take one and gently press and slide between fingers to open the hole and gently slide your scissor blade through it and cut. Once cut, gently rub between fingers to crinkle it before applying the glue (the brown block in the case- you need water to make it sticky). If you find the glue hard to use, you can use a water based glue like pritstick, which essentially has the same component, or go to a chinese super market and ask for Or gaau, which is the sticky tree syrup that has been traditionally used. Cut the membrane to half your index finger in length and apply, but beginners, use normal scotch tape or electrical tape if you want to get the sound out straight away.Also, it's a very tight fit when putting together so absolutely OIL the joint first with vaseline or coconut or almond oil sp that you don't accidentally damage the wood and split it, then gently twist it on.It's a lovely instrument. It didn't come with a finger chart, but there are plenty online. Enjoy!

I bought a G flute in Dec 2017. The flute itself is in 2 sections, which means some tuning is possible by adjusting the length of the flute. However, the finger holes are not positioned correctly. In other words, when the G note is in tune, most noticeably the D and B notes are not. Could not use this flute for serious playing.

I originally purchased the dizi bamboo economy version in C. I figured I'd by the less expensive one and if I didn't like it, I wouldn't lose much of an investment. It was very pretty but the lower notes were practically impossible to play. I tried over and over and thought I must be working too hard at this. I've had other wind instruments before and I had a hunch it was defective. The holes seemed off. I returned it and purchased this upgrade instead. Glad I did! This rosewood flute is amazing. I went right to it and all my lower notes came out pretty good. Whew!The flute color (the one I received) is like a very dark espresso (almost black) color. The horn ends are cream colored. The brass joint is of a nickel luster. It also appears a tiny bit thinner than the less expensive version. Go figure. The case is pretty, sort of a boot brown color with Chinese inscription embossed on it. Delicate trim detailing all around and a double zipper closure. Inside, the case has golden colored cheap fuzz liner over foam. There is also minor damage of a small "crush" mark about one inch long on the inside of the foam divider. Not a big deal - it still works. One thing I did notice (and I did not "ding" a star off for it) was that the flute is tricky to take apart again. I had to be very careful to gently twist it forward and back with very gradual pressure to pull it apart. It made a very unpleasant stress noise on the wood flute. The cheaper model did not have this problem and I think it had to do with the sturdiness of the brass joint. I don't think this is real brass - more like an inexpensive soft metal alloy.The flute has some nice indented imprints on it on each end. I don't read Chinese but I imagine the "stamp" of the manufacturer/brand is on one end and then some inscription on the other - over all a very nice piece. It is rosewood I think, very shiny. The photo makes mine look lighter than it does to the naked eye. All in all, beautiful sound and easier to work with, even for a beginner like myself.I got the "C" because I like the lowers softer "zen" sounds of these lower key flutes. The smaller higher pitched dizi flutes, from what I've researched, are a bit easier for most people to play so be aware ofpthis before you buy. Of course I would have to pick something difficult. Yet it shouldn't be THAT difficult, even for a beginner. I am sure the one I originally purchased was defective. The Pro one I purchased gave me no unreasonable difficulties, although as usual with many flute type instruments, lower keyed flutes and lower notes are generally harder to play and control.Also, I did lots of research on the internet and youtube before buying and what is out there is very inspiring to say the least.

The tone of this Dizi flute is beautiful and pure and has exceeded my expectations! I find myself picking it up often through the day to practice and improvise new beautiful songs. I love it so much!! I chose the professional level Aged Rosewood in D key, and it seems to be a good key to start with, but I hope to buy other keys of this model.It is a very dark color, almost black, and looks and feels so professional! It is very well made with very precise silver fittings where the two pieces join together. Mine has white horn pieces on the ends, and a beautiful red tassel, which really lends a pleasing appearance when playing. I have received many compliments on it!I found that the dimo included was very thin and kept breaking easily, so I learned to apply two layers by gluing one on and waiting for it to dry, then applying another one over it to make it thicker so it will not break as easily, and improve the sound quality. It could just be that the dimo I received is extra thin, so yours might be fine with one layer. I absolutely LOVE this instrument!
