Hammer material seems to be on the soft side and not tempered very well. After using the hammer on horse shoes for a few days ,the hammer end mushroomed some and will not last long. I don’t not recommend this hammer for farrier use. Probably be fine for a horse owner for light use.

For how cheap it is it gets the job done. Don't like the claw for twisting nails off but I just use cutters instead.Better than paying $250 for the same damn hammer here in alberta

I didn’t have real high expectations from a $20 hammer to start with, but the head snapped off the handle when driving a nail on the first horse I used it for. Also if you are a farrier who prefers to ring your nails off instead of bending and cutting them with nips, you will not be able to with this hammer. The claw end of the hammer head is way too open and wasn’t beveled properly. If I had to say something good about it is that it is nicely balanced and did drive nails well. After some serious file work at the claw end and some re-tampering as well as a new handle it’s getting me by. My advice is spend the money and buy from a reputable maker.

The hammer looks good but am not very happy with the claw and I am not able to brake the nails while shoeing the horse
