Almost ready to plant these purple lanterns will be mixed with orange lanterns. Purple seeds seem to be growing much faster than the orange. Should be ready to plant in a couple weeks.

I spread the seeds (so, so tiny) among 4 small plastic pots I saved from mini plants ordered on Amazon. One site said the seeds should be soaked to remove the husk. I could barely See the seeds, so I ignored that step. That site and another suggested preparing the soil first, giving it a good soak, and placing the seeds on top as sunlight is key to germation. Both sites said germation could take up to 3 weeks.Well, 3 days...yes, Days...later, 3 of the 4 small pots have at least 5 seedlings with the 4th just 2. Realize this review is an early stage one, but I read so many reviews that mentioned no success (bought the seeds anyway...sentimental purchase), that I wanted to share my success.Fingers crossed =) for continued success and that's why I took off a star.

Don't oftern register a negative review, but it it keeps some other vicitim from purchasing these. all the better...These seeds do germinate, but never get about an inch or so in height and never thrive....it's like they have been irradiated or may be from a past year's production batch....awful ! That is all.

Every year I look for plants that are both beautiful and out of the ordinary. I was very excited about adding this plant to my garden and as a dried flower. Not one seed sprouted. Buyer beware.

Will grow Chinese Lanterns next Spring indoors in peat pots and THEN transplant them outside. They're in my freezer right now.
