This thing is hot (and that isn’t a good thing…) I’ve had it for two days, with two different SSDs and it repeatedly causes the Mac to restart due to problems. I have this on a M4 Pro Mac Mini which is only a couple months old. The Mini hasn’t had any issues in the couple months or so I’ve been using it as my primary rig and the other SSD enclosure I have has been flawless on this machine.I get the great idea to upgrade my storage and buy this slick looking enclosure and the problems started immediately.Pros:- the reviews citing the transfer speeds are accurate. I have seen the same speeds stated in other reviews.- this looks totally slick! From a functional design perspective, it’s the best looking SSD dock for the M4/M4 Pro Mini out thereCons:- let’s face it, if the dock doesn’t keep a consistent connection to the computer it doesn’t matter how cool it looks.- causes the Mac Mini to reboot and report problems back to Apple…Summary:UGH! I really wanted to like this. Admittedly I currently have a small sample size (only 2 days) but right now this is unusable! I am going to do more testing with my new SSD and the existing enclosure but I’m pretty sure this thing is going back at this point.

I’m putting a solid 4 out of 5 stars on this bad boy—because perfection is a myth, like unicorns or printers that work on the first try.I tested it against a similar-spec unit, and surprise surprise—speeds were basically twins. I topped out around 3200x3400, which is still fast enough to make my coffee machine question its life choices.Tossed in a couple of SSDs, including a flashy PCIe 5 one, mostly for the flex. But let’s be honest—I’m not made of money, and I don’t have a Patreon full of fans funding my tech habit. Plus, it’s not the SSD’s fault. The controller’s the fun police here, and it’s handing out speed tickets like it’s got a quota. For my needs, though? It’s basically a rocket ship. This version came with some extra ports, including the holy grail—a USB-A port. And some USB-Zs... or whatever they’re calling them now. Either way, I’ve got more ports than I have things to plug in, so I’m officially living in luxury. It also earns bonus points for making my Mac Mini look cooler—both visually and thermally. Doesn’t run hot, doesn’t look like a toaster. That’s a win.And yes, it makes my desk look 32% more productive—scientifically proven by the fact that I now *pretend* to get more done.Would recommend—with a few dramatic sighs, mostly for flair.

It does 3000 gbps. I used Kingston NV3 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD | PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4 | Up to 6000 MB/s | SNV3S/1000G

I used a Samsung EVO Plus 4 TB 990 Driver in the enclose , I have two of these one in s SBC with a ssd hat that used as a server and barely uses more than 4 w of power, but as soon as I connected the enclose with the driver it moved the Mac from 1w to 2w idea to 11 to 15 watt idle which I feel is extremely high for something that is suppose to be turned on all day.Based of the fact the SBC runs the same driver at Gen 3 speeds with barely any major increase in power I am a little concerned that this enclose is utilizing too much power.

I previously used a USB adapter to expand more USB-A ports for my Mac Mini M4, but it was ugly and inconvenient, so I decided to try this USB 40Gbps Speed NVMe enclosure, which also has 3 USB-A ports for connecting peripherals.I installed a new 2TB Crucial P3 Plus NVMe SSD and tested it, and it was very fast, 3154 MB/s write, 3108MB/s read. So far, the connection has not been disconnected or lost during file transfers.Another amazing part is that the stand built using the NVMe enclosure can lift the Mac Mini M4 up, allowing me to reach the power button more easily. It makes my desk much neater with cables and other stuff around it and I'm really happy with the way it looks.

Finally got a USB hub with 40Gbps SSD enclosure for my Mac Mini M4! Many other hubs stay with merely 10Gbps.1. speed is amazing - I tried it with Samsung EVO Plus 4TB and the speeds soared over 3000MB/s, very satisfactory!2. it lifts the Mac off the desk so that I can easily reach the power button. Excellent build quality, and the all-aluminum casing matches the Mac Mini very well.3. there are two USB-A ports on the front, and a single USB-A port and a 3.5mm audio jack on the back for plugging in accessories. Setup is quick and simple - you just plug and play using a single USB-C cable, no extra drivers required.Besides, I haven’t seen any Wi-F issues so far, I will keep eyes on it.
