1) The battery cover plate doesn't have contacts. How is it going to complete a closed circuit?2) The battery compartment is too small for AA cells and too large for AAA cells.3) The inside battery contacts are both springs even though it shows one as + and the other is - .4) Even with that, I tried to use a wire to close the circuit but it didn't alarm with power disconnected.5) The wall plug is designed to fit 110V but it says 220V on the package.

The unit seems to work OK but there were NO instructions included. I wouldn’t have known that it required a 9v battery if I hadn’t seen it in the description on Amazon, and then it took a while to figure out how to open it to insert the battery. And the “siren” is REALLY LOUD, which is good except that it went off as I installed the battery and I thought I had damaged my hearing. Other than those things, it fine.

Il y avait une pièce manquante. Mains pires que cela, le compartiment pour recevoir les batteries n'est pas assez grand donc impossible de les installer.

Works great and very loud. I use it on my sump pump circuit and on my downstairs freezer. Both circuits have ground fault outlets and for some reason every year or two go off.

It’s loud and will let us know if the power ever cuts out to the freezer.

Every spring on the farm we raise baby chicks. Need to have heat lamps or source of warmth for them, sometimes the power goes out in the middle of the night and this unit is a great device to let you know to get the generator running to save the baby chicks. Very useful and well built, alarm is VERY loud so even for the deepest sleeper, this alarm is it.

If you have a manual backup generator, ie, you have to start it yourself, then this device is critical, especially if you have a pool with a water circulating pump. Possibly you might not wake up in time to turn on generator before pump or piping freezes.

Works as described will help with power outages or breaker issues. Its much too loud though I have tried to quiet it down with tape.

This puppy works! Battery goes in with the prongs first so they are touching the coils, if it doesn’t beep turn the battery around keeping the prongs facing the coils. That said our power goes out at night a lot. Bought this yesterday and it was here this morning. My husband is on oxygen and when the power goes out…so does his oxygen and we have to switch over to a tank until power is restored. Power flickered a few times today due something going on down the highway and this baby screamed with each flicker! A life saver!

I bought from Amazon Warehouse, a returned item. Inside the battery compartment, as part of the white molded case, there are raised "+" and "-" battery polarity indicators. It didn't work. I'm an Electrical Engineer. On a lark, I reversed the battery, hoping it had diode protection. It worked perfectly. The markings are switched. It's actually too loud, and an quite annoying sound. Not a pure tone. But it still has to be fairly loud, because it's for the CGFI master circuit that runs to my garage, where my freezer is plugged in. So any time a GFI outlet around a sink, or, more typically, outdoors, would trip, my freezer would shut off. I'm going to tape a ball of cotton from a medicine bottle over the speaker.I wondered what the little hole in the back of the case was for, because I didn't want to cover it with the mounting tape if it was a reset button. I opened it and checked. It's nothing. I see no reason for it to be there, so I'm covering it.

Someone said "if you put two batteries in, they won't do anything". That's because it's not 2 AA or AAA batteries... just one 9v battery.Did not come with any instructions, so that is part of the problem. Here are the instructions - easy peasy:1) Make sure switch is in OFF position2) remove battery cover3) insert 9v battery, paying attention to positive and negative polarity4) plug the device in5) switch the device to ON6) brace yourself for a loud noise and unplug the device for a moment to verify functionality.7) plug the device back in. remember to change the batteries when you change your smoke detector batteries.Cheers!Open the bottom (battery cover slides off).
