I highly recommend having - I carry mine in my pocket. The sound alarm is very loud, and the light is extremely bright. Any extra protection these days are worth investing. You can't put a price on safety.

flashlight is nice but one had best be near people for alarm to work. low decibels, not a bothersome noise. sounds like a car alarm, not sure anyone would bother if they heard it

I ordered this to carry while running but there's no easy way to carry this thing in my hands that doesn't feel awkward. It really does have to be attached to something like a purse, stroller, etc. I have tested out the sound in my house and I was expecting it to be a bit louder- it would draw attention but if you're in a remote area, I'm not sure how far this sound will travel. I'm going to keep it on my stroller for when running with the kids, but it does jiggle so I have to attach it to the handle and then pop it in the cup holder so I can run without it smacking the stroller. I guess this is my fault for not really paying attention to the design before ordering. I need more of a warp-around (wrist or handlebar) design option. I do love that it's rechargeable- no risk of the batteries dying without warning.

I purchased this as a panic device for my 97 year old dad in case he falls. Attached next to the bed so all he has to do is pull in the device to alert me. Works great.

What is the problem with these alarms? This one is advertised as 130db, actually under 90. That may sound like a reasonable level but it isn't much above ambient noise, even in a small city. Overall, it's hardly noticeable. Most disappointing and I greatly regret my purchase.

The first battery powered alarm quit not long after first battery change. I picked this for rated decibel output and modern USB cord recharging.She loves it. She asked me to order another for her hairdresser. They both like the pink.It has flashlight and/or strobe function too.Both are bright LEDs.
