About this item

  • Dimming Thermostat, a PID temperature controller designed for reptile heat lamps or heating pads, constant temperature to provide a more comfortable and healthy environment for reptiles or plants.
  • Compared to ON/OFF mode thermostats, PID thermostats ensure that the temperature of the terrarium remains constant while avoiding temperature differences caused by frequent on/off switching. Energy savings also extends lamp life by up to 45%.
  • Easy to use, just connect the reptile light fixture with bulb to the female socket of the thermostat and power on; the temperature control probe with suction cup is easy to fix. The digital display shows the real-time temperature of the target space clearly and accurately.
  • 68℉ - 122℉ or 20°C -50°C can be set in a range that meets the temperature settings of most reptiles in their natural habitat. Maximum load of 200W heat lamp, UL certified power cord is safer and more reliable.
  • Good for using with daylight or intense basking spot, infrared heat lamp, ceramic heat emitter. Do not use for Mercury vapor bulb (sun lamp) and UVB bulb.

Product Description

  • Red indicator light on means heating lamp is working. Blinking temp. display means the probe detects a temp. that is 3°C (or 5°F) below or above the set target temp..

Please allow approx. 30 minutes for the heating bulb to warm up the terrarium.

  • The PID dimming module utilizes commercial-grade chips to accurately dimming heat lamps, maintaining a constant temperature in the target zone. It eliminates sudden start-stop cycles and prevents temperature overshooting/undershooting.

  • This PID thermostat uses a high-precision Korean-made NTC temperature probe with an accuracy of ±0.5~1°C and excellent durability.

This is perfect for my leopard gecko. It’s nice quality, sturdy, not cheap feeling or looking and very easy to set up. I didn’t even use the instructions.

I was super excited to find a dimmable thermostat for my leopard gecko for such an amazing price! I haven’t plugged it in yet but will update as soon as I do !

This is a very good thermostat!First off, easy to install and the interface of it is easy enough to understand, though I was confused as how it worked, thinking it was a touch screen when it was hidden buttons under the screen that you needed to press harder than a touch screen to use it. Heat level is easy to achieve, and it functioned as you'd want a thermostat to do-- keeps the tank warm at desired air temp. And when the desired air temp is met, it stays relatively level all throughout the day.Personal issues about design is that I'd prefer the light on the screen/interface to be dimmer, or at least an option to be dimmer, as i think the blinking (indication that the heater is off and the desired day temp is not met) of the screen's light would be annoying to my reptile at night, seeing leopard geckos dont need a nighttime heat source in a relatively warm house, so I flip the screen over to avoid the light. If one was to have it dangling off the or away from the tank, then this shouldn't be an issue.

This works great. I use it with a 20 watt incandescent bulb to keep petri dish cultures at a constant temperature inside a small cooler. I love that you can use almost any sort of dimmable bulb depending on how much heat you need and the size of your enclosure. I tested it using a bluetooth thermometer and the temperature remained perfectly flat despite fluctuations in the ambient temperature (cooler house at night). Its easy to use, easy to set up, and it JUST WORKS!

Being a new beardie parent, I didn’t know there were all these fancy things to keep track of temperature and lights and all that. This has made it more convenient for me. It’ll start tapering down when it’s too hot — which, isn’t a real problem in Alaska, but the timer portion is nice so that I don’t have to remind the kids to turn off the bearded dragon’s stuff. It’s simple enough and straight forward — just read the instructions it comes with!

Great product! It was easy to set up as the instructions are pretty straightforward. It works great and responds instantly to temperature spikes and dips. It has made stable temperatures much easier to achieve in my snake’s enclosure. I really like this product and it’s a good value!

This dimming thermostat works perfectly for my terrarium. As expected it gradually reduces power to the attached light bulb as the temperature sensed by the thermometer reaches the set point. I’ve even seen it turn the light off completely when the temperature was above the set point.I’ll mention some of the finer details I’ve noticed. The device can remember a custom set point after losing power, but I’m not sure what the time limit is. I’ve left it off for several hours and it remembered a custom set point, but after leaving it off for more than a day it forgot. The default set point is 80 degrees F, so I positioned the thermometer probe a few inches down from the light source to calibrate the terrarium’s heat gradient based on 80 degrees. I have the device on a smart plug that turns it off every night, and it does restore itself to the previous state when coming back on in the morning. In my experience you probably only want to use this with an incandescent bulb. In my setup I have an incandescent basking bulb and a CFL UVA + UVB bulb. This device works perfectly with the incandescent, but the CFL bulb was questionable. I noticed that the CFL buzzed louder and louder the lower the current went, and I felt like it would probably shorten the bulb’s lifespan if I left it attached all the time. It’s been adequate to leave the CFL bulb at 100% brightness during the day and have the incandescent heat bulb controlled by the thermostat.I think this thermostat is a good deal and I’d recommend it to anyone with a reptile. Even if you have a light bulb that maintains a constant temperature during the day, things may change at a different time of year. I’ve noticed the thermostat making my heat bulb dimmer at certain times of day, meaning that it would’ve been too hot in the terrarium without it.

I really want to love this thermostat, but I found an issue as soon as I turned it on for the first time. The temp on the screen does not match the temp in my ball python's enclosure. I have the probe about 1in from an analog temp gauge, so it's not a matter of distance between the measurements. I set this thermostat to 88F and when I checked back an hour later the enclosure was hovering right at 100F. That's dangerously off. I kept scaling it back a degree or two over the next few hours and now it's set at 82 to keep the enclosure at 88. For this fact, I'm giving this a 3. I'l try reaching out to the manufacturer to see if this is a faulty unit and will definitely update my review in the future.I love the simplicity of this, otherwise. It's very straightforward and seems to cooperate with my ceramic heat set up just fine, weird temp reads aside. It dims as it should and doesn't just cut power to the lamp as other types of thermostats do. Before trying this one, I was using an on/off version and hated it. It worked, but was always loud when it clicked on or off and doing the settings was a nightmare. This one makes no noise whatsoever - not even when pressing a button. Setting the temp you want only takes a few seconds, it's so easy. If I can get the temperature calibrated or replace with a proper working unit then this will be a home run.
