This tool is able to take an aggressive cut, whilst retaining sensitivity for refining cuts. Made from M2 high speed steel and then properly hardened and tempered. They will keep a sharpened edge about six times longer than carbon steel and resist "blued" softening from overheating during grinding or from heavy turning. They come with a hard White Ash handle and solid brass ferrule. Handle is 10 inches long with the tool being 6 inches in length. Overall length is 16 inches.

I meant to get a box scraper, but the return was not going to be free from this vendor. My fault on both counts. So I kept it. Scraper worked wonderfully in making turned wooden bells for gifts. The inside came out very smooth with little sanding needed. When I tried to do the same with a carbide hollowing tool, the surface was inferior, with groves.

This is a great wood turning tool, but it is a Sorby, exactly what I expected, thats why I bought it

This is just what I needed for bowl turning. It was sharp out of the box and holds it’s edge very well. I was amazed at how fast it arrived. Because of that I’ve ordered two more Robert Sorby turning tools from Hartville Hardware.

I’m new to turning but not woodworking and I had heard about these tools. Plus stores like Woodcraft and Rockler keep them as part of their active inventory so that should tell you something

This appears to be a good quality tool. I was able to use it for the first time today, and it worked as expected. I shared it with another woodturner hill who agreed with my evaluation.

Same Sorby quality as the rest of their line of tools. Cuts well and sharpens easily.
