If you’re looking for a wide angle lens to be used in MANUAL focus on a TRIPOD for landscapes this is a great comparatively inexpensive option.The focus action is smooth, and the focus lock is a wonderful feature for night photography.I’ve found the weather sealing to appear good but have not yet taken it out in the rain. I have the Nikon F mount. Would like to have the Nikon 14-24 mm, but I don’t use that focal length range that often, so this was a good financial compromise for occasional astral-photography.The front lens cap has a nice fit and the lens isn’t too heavy. Overall, a good lens.

The lens I received is fine and I don't mind using it (which is why I didn't return it) but it's almost twice the size as what is pictured in the original listing and I'm sure much heavier. Over time I've gotten used to using it but would have preferred the smaller version for potential use on my Steadicam.

I bought and returned this lens twice. Both copies had different issues one with a stuck aperture and one that was extremely soft, it seems like quality control is very poor. Maybe I could keep returning them until I get a good version but I don't want to spend weeks sorting through which lenses have what problems.

DSLRs are being phased out by all the major manufacturers so I didn’t want to spend a boatload of money on a new lens with just one primary purpose, and that was for Astro photography. A lot of reviews pointed to the Rokinon. But they didn’t really mention this upgraded model. For like $70 more you get the weather sealing and a focus lock ring. I got the infinity focus perfect, locked down the ring and have never had to refocus again. And you may think you don’t need weather ceiling when shooting stars outdoors but believe me you are always going to be dealing with a bunch of dew at some point during your session. So the added safety against moisture is very welcome. I’ve gotten some awesome OK my pictures and I am extremely happy with the purchase. Build quality seems superb and lens hood cap is also well designed.

The status of the delivery was “handed to resident” instead of left at the front door. This is a lie! On every other items I’ve bought at Amazon that’s fine. But this is a precision camera lens. That’s probably why they lied as the instructions for it was to be handed. Luckily for the delivery man/service, I don’t see any damage so far of the wide lens; but it could have gone wrong.

I bought it during the October 2022 sale event with plans for Milky Way shots. Even in daylight I found my copy to be very bad :/ At f/2.8 everything (on or off center) is blurry like I was looking thru a glass bottle. It is acceptable at f/5.6 but way worse than my "pancake" Sony E 20mm/2.8. I still want to test it with stars but I am very certain I will be returning it. Bummer. But great build quality indeed!
