Needed to replace an hour meter on a Generac portable generator due to the button battery being dead on the original hour meter (no display). Good for keeping up with the maintenance on the unit. Quick and easy to replace; plug and play.

I am putting hour meters on all my small engines, and this one looked like it would fit on my mowers dash. When I got it, it was on in the box, and I don't see any way to turn it off or change the battery. I hope I'm mistaken, and the battery lasts a long time . . . At least the numbers are easy to read, and it started registering hours when I run the engine. It fits smaller spaces, but seems expensive compared to others.

This is a time counter that has no fancy functions, only count times when it connected to power. It has built-in battery to keep memory and display the counter but only start counting when receive power from the terminals.There is no reset button to reset the counter which may limit the flexibility to start a new cycle. I use it to monitor the total running time of my furnace for the season or for a period of time, so I have to take down the numbers every week and month and do some calculation to know how much the furnace was running for those periods.Simple but works well.

These are essentially all the same since the dawn of time.This one does not have a reset button and also the battery was pre installed and was on the whole time.I am not sure how I feel about this because if the unit has been sitting on a shelf for years that would mean the battery is mostly spent already. I also doubt the battery is rechargeable.The rear of the unit is sealed and instructions say to not open them.Only two pins on the rear and they say they are non polarized so placement doesn't matter.Does include two spade connectors and terrible instructions that are made for 5 different hour meter.s

PROS:* The product worked exactly as advertised.* The LCD screen contrast was very good and clear.* Elapsed time appeared to be accurate enough.* Construction quality appeared very good and firm.* Usage was super easy.* The product came with a pair of female crimp blade-type receptors and insulation hardware.* The module is compact in size.* The module is rated as IP68 waterproof (don't short the electrical lugs with moisture).* The operating instructions were easy to understand (English).* Value is good and better with an available vendor 5% discount coupon when this review was written.CONS:* According to the vendor, the module is powered by a CR2050 battery. It does not appear to be easily user replaceable. Maybe something to think about in your application.* No warranty or support contact information was found in the product packaging.SUMMARY:The product evaluated was the model RL-HM055AD-2. It worked exactly as hoped across the advertised voltage range and source type without a problem. The shopper should feel confident implementing it in any electrical equipment where usage needs to be metered.
