Sadly, I am old enough to remember using these as a kid to call home or elsewhere. This replica is very unique in that it does work and offers you a great conversation piece for those that perhaps never saw a real phone like this. What is really wild about this phone though is that it has a switch to go from touch tone to pulse which I found very odd and also very cool because phones in the US do not work on pulse anymore.The sound quality is very good and it has a fairly heavy handset. The whole piece seems to be well made and it can mount on the wall (with included hardware) or stand alone.The left coin return is a nice touch and it comes with a key to unlock the lower right hand drawer to retrieve your money although no money is needed to make a call it is nice to teach children the value of saving.I really like this piece and it will make it's way into my man cave out back to be enjoyed by others!

I got this for my daughter who loves retro items or anything of any sort. I thought this might be nice for her to have this to prevent her from keeping jars of change.What a great conversation piece! I love that she was so enthralled by this phone when it came in. This brings back memories of my grandparents home when I was a girl. It’s just the right weight as well.I didn’t expect it to be a working phone! I didn’t try to make a call from it, so I can’t comment on the sound quality, ring tone or clarity of a call.Not only is this amazingly fun, but functional as well! I recommend this Ryan Bros. American Retro 1950's Payphone with Coin Bank. It is well manufactured with all the details that were a part of those actual payphones from our past. The Quarter, Dime and Nickel Slots are up on the top. The Rotary Dial is present but the corresponding Numbers are push button to actual dial a phone number. The Face plate in the past had the Payphones phone number entered there with information about Dialing an Operator and finally the Coin return slot is there with the press down handle to get to the coins.The Ryan Bros. reproduction has a compartment that holds the coins and comes with a Key to open and gain access to the coins that have been accumulated.I am a Grandfather and a Great Grandfather and I love talking to my grand children about this Payphone because they are so interested in the history of these phones, since the only phones they have known are the Smart phones their Mother's and Father's use. Our landline that we had before this has a voice message recorder but is the only landline they had seen previously.This Payphone from Ryan Bros. is a fantastic piece of nostalgia for us and is also a functioning telephone that actually has pretty decent sound quality and voice quality through the old style handset.This payphone is great for us older folks and also is a great appliance for those who love and have a room in their Homes that makes use of the 50's Decor. Great price and Great Memories.

I got this to compliment my decor as I love classic and vintage things and this did not disappoint. It ACTUALLY works if you hook it up properly! Fun piece to have around and looks so good, sturdy and very well made! This would make a Great gift too.

I ordered the Silver/ Chrome one. Fingerprints does show up easily, but my phone is only for decoration. The only CON, is the buttons are white not black like the picture. Still happy with my purchase!
