Its light weigt and has laser. it didnt bog down on 2X8s. The guard is plastic but you wont get steel for under $100

Got the saw way ahead of its original delivery date. I've had an opportunity to use it a few times and what I have found is: 1). It's light weight and easy to handle. 2). Because of its light weight it takes a little more arm and hand strength to keep it in a straight line. 3). Single button operation. (No "safety" switch). 4). Plenty of power to cut anything in its path. And, 5). (The only negative). The laser line, one of the bigger selling points for me, is WAY off. My first cut was 1/4" too long. (Fortunately). So, I still recommend a guide to keep your cuts on the line. Or, calculate how far off the laser line is and compensate accordingly.

I've used this saw for a few small projects. It does what I expect with no complaints. It seems powerful enough for whatever I can throw at it. The laser guide is nice - but mostly useless for cutting 2x4s. My next project involves plywood so that will be a better test.

Nice saw, pretty loud, but should be wearing hearing protection anyway.The laser is self contained, turns on with the saw trigger, so no separate switch for laser.Does the job.

i use this saw to cut two pieces of wood about 10' in length one piece of this wood was an old very hard wood and this saw cut trough it with ease no binding of the blades was experienced this tells of the power coming from the motor there more high priced saws out there but this saw has done me proud i love it so much that i will buy another just because its that good.I must mention that it came packed in a very nice bag with some useful accessories Ryobi needs to advertised there product more
