After 16 years the original lift cylinders for my Mustangs decklid have failed. These are exact replacements for the 2003 Mustang and work perfectly.

I purchased a used 1997 Mustang convertible. The trunk lift supports were shot and seemed to be holding the trunk shut, rather than helping open it. I started searchign the usual suspects (AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly, etc) and the prices were shocking!For less than the price of one at those places, I was able to purchase both here on Amazon.By reading other reviews, I knew that they were not extremely strong, but I really did think that they would do better than they're doing. When I hit the remote's button, the door clicks open and stays there; I barely moves so, unless you're watching while it clicks, you can't even see the difference in the door location (I'm wondering how long until it allows the door to move enough to clear the catch).I have to manually open the trunk all the way and, at that point, the lift supports do exactly that, support the trunk door open.Now, I will admit that it is winter right now, and we've been around 35F since I installed them, so maybe during the summer they'll perform better but, for now, I'm not impressed. They do the job, and that's why they get 3 stars, but I'm not impressed at all at their strength.
