Thing broke 7 days outside the return window. Can't recommend. One tooth is jammed inside and I cannot rotate it with the chuck.

I will end up using this, but the quality matches the price. I inserted the key and simply turned the key around the gears a dozen times, left and right, no load, no pressure except to keep the key in the hole and turn the gears. In the pictures you can see the wear and tear on the key. Also, turning the gears was not easy as the thing stuck and went into a bind several times, simply turning it with my hand, no load. I agree with another reviewer that the jaws are not the same length. You can see in the photos that one jaw sticks out further. I will use this device but it is not all I hoped it would be. I recommend looking for a better quality device.

This drill chuck is a must for anyone who does a lot of work with a drill when on the move.I use all 1/4” hex drive bits and recently I was helping a friend when I had to drill a large hole and I did not have a 1/2” drill with me so I could not use a large straight shank bit. Now I don’t take my drill anywhere with out this attachment.

If you are looking at this item you already know its cheap. But you likely need it for a one off project like I do, so you will take the chance. The length of the hex adapter will not fit in a Milwaukee driver. So plan on grinding it down. The chuck key isn't great either as the teeth only engage about halfway, and not because the alignment pin is too long. Just poor quality. If you want a nice Jacobs chuck with a good key, go ahead and spend the money. But for the flexibility this is decent.

I had bought a new hammer drill with the sds plus chuck so you can only use bits with the sds plus shafts. This keyed chuck was just the ticket for using round shaft bits or square shank bits. Now I’m not limited to only using the sds bits.
