Ok, first thing -- the most important -- do cats like it? I can honestly say, maybe... but yes... but... Here's the thing, most cat treats on the market are created like kitty "crack", to entice cats in. That means additives and other smells to pull them in. This is, well, just chicken. And freeze-dried chicken. That means minimal odor. When opening that first bag, I happily put it on the floor, and my cats looked up at me with a "where's the crack?" look. I thought, "great, they don't like it." I walked away. About an hour later, I came back, and it was still there. "Well, this is a bust." But then, one tried it. And when she ate it, another decided to try it. Now, when I put it out, it's gone in a couple minutes. So, I do believe that there is a moment where they need to associate that smell with food. What I like:* Simple ingredients. "Chicken". Really doesn't get any simpler than that. Cats are carnivores, so I like giving them clean protein without all the fillers.* Each bag is resealable. This is a treat, not food, so the fact that I can give a small handful to a cat and keep the rest fresh is nice. Now, the manufacturer will be the first to tell you (in fact they do) that this is not a substitute for your cat's regular food. This is a treat. How long does it last? Depends on the batch you get, I suppose. What I received had about a year and a half on the "Best By" date. That should be more than enough time for my cats. So, if you're looking for something without lots of chemicals and unneeded fillers for your cat, this is a good choice. Just be aware that they may need some time to warm up to the food association. My one cat did not, but she's not a snacker of any sort.

We have a cat treat tuna recipe we have been meaning to try. But when we found these tuna treats we figured it would be a good trial run to see how our cats might like them. Even our cats that don't like treats wanted to try these. They smell SUPER fishy so that's probably why. But hey at least they're pretty healthy. We had to hide the rest of the bags so they wouldn't tear into them when we weren't around. Be careful of how many you let them have at once too though because a couple of them gobbled them and got sick. We now only give a few at a time.

Our cat is 15, and her name is Bitchy, so that should give you a hint about how finicky she can be. She is super particular when it comes to food and treats—it has to be some sort of tuna or fish. My husband spoils his old girl with treats and all sorts of goodies; he wants to make sure she has a good life since she’s getting up there in years. He got her these treats to see if she’d like them, and man, does she! The second she spots the package, she starts wailing like we haven’t fed her in days. And forget just giving her one—she’ll cut you! She absolutely loves them, but good gravy, do they stink (as expected with fish). I shared the link with my co-worker, and she got some for her cat. These things are a hit for sure. I’ll definitely be getting more for our old girl.

I got these tuna treats to try out, and honestly, they were a hit with all of my cats. The second I open a pack, they come running. I really like that it’s just one ingredient—real tuna—so I feel good about giving it to them. The texture is light and easy for them to chew, even for my older cat. The 10g packs are a nice size for spreading out over a few days, and having 12 in the box lasts us a good while since I give them as little rewards or special snacks. My cats approve!

It seems like "freeze dried" everything is all the rage now, and for good reason. It's a great way to preserve foods and the texture it lends a lot of items is rather pleasing. I like that this is 100% chicken and nothing else. I have two sibling cats who are the fussiest cats I've ever had when it comes to food and treats, and if I can get one of them to like something then I call it a win. My female cat will eat these, but not enthusiastically like the treats she has already chosen as her favorite (which doesn't surprise me), but my male cat who shows no enthusiasm for any treats scarfed these right up. He loves them! So this works out great because now he has his own treats that his sister will not try to steal. It's a win for everybody!

I have tried many different types of freeze-dried treats. During this time I have learned that cats are unique in their tastes and preferences, just like humans are. Would you buy one type of pizza and expect all people to like it? likely not. The same is true with these treats, one of my two cats likes it, one does not. But the one that likes it, does not "love it". Without understanding cat language, I can only guess at which treats my kitties prefer, but this is definitely not one of them. Their favorite freeze dried treats are stinky, this one is rather mild to smell and not aromatic enough to entice them. Its tolerated, eaten, but not craved.

My cats love the freeze dried chicken! What is great about Salty Cat is they cut the chicken in small pieces that are easy to eat, even for kittens. I like it’s 100% real chicken and grain free so healthy for them! I shook the bag and my two cats came running over right away! The only downside is the cost but it’s worth it for a healthy treat. Also, I can take a pack when traveling with the cat to the vet or on a plane!
