This was about an $80 purchase for me. Excellent bang for the buck as a first cajon.The bass tone is a little higher pitch than I would like, guessing it is centered around 120 Hz, maybe 150, but it still sounds like a kick drum. There is a bass port on the back of this drum, and I do think that helps tighten the low end up a bit.The snares are not adjustable, but sound pretty good to me. Sounds more or less like a papery hip hop snare. I fiddled around with the velcro, but cannot hear the difference. Have not tried adjusting the screws on the front of the drum as everything sounded pretty good out of the box. I am about 200 lb and 6 ft tall, it is mostly comfortable. Does not feel like it is going to fall apart, but I could use a little more height to be comfortable seated. Of course, I am "of a certain age", so it could just be my old bones talking.I have been experimenting with different microphones for live- an AKG D112 does a pretty good job at the backport, as did an old crown sound grabber PZM with the plate removed and the element pointing straight into the port. I have a cheap triple headed piezo guitar pickup coming, which I think will work well. I tried the Journey version of the same pickup and it worked very well, but at 50 bucks, it will go on a nicer instrument instead.

The sound is incredible! If you hit just the right shot with a slightly cupped, closed finger strike, the Bass comes out like a sonic boom. Perfect contrast to the snare portions. Love this!

More bass sound than expected, snare good snap sounds. Solid build, corners are rounded over, sturdy and comfortable when sitting on. Using as set up from box, haven’t tried to adjust face. Snare wires have Velcro strip in middle, that can be used to adjust sound as well.
