So disappointed in this item. I cannot use it because it requires a mini flat head screw driver that it doesn’t bring. This is a matter of quality control, what would it have cost you to have included a tiny screw driver. It’s a requirement in able to safely put in the engraving bit and tighten it, otherwise you can’t use it. If you do use it you can chance causing an injury as it will fly off as soon as you attempt to use it. I tried the smallest flat head driver I have and unfortunately it was till too big. You need those tiny ones for eyeglasses.

We thought this would be fun to engrave names and designs on some small rocks and stones, not graffiti mind you, and it turned out to be a little more difficult than we had anticipated. The engraver works by shaking/vibrating really fast. It makes it a little hard to control when trying to engrave. I wonder if more expensive sets have more control, and help with accuracy. We found it fun, but a bit loud and unwieldy, and had trouble reaching our desired outcome. You might have better luck with it, but we found it more challenging than expected.

This basic engraving set works well. The engraving tool comes with tungsten carbide tips which hold up very well. An alpha-numeric stencil is also included. My husband handles CO2 bottles and likes to put the company name on them – the stencil is just right for that. The engraver can be set for different depths with an adjustment dial that works quite well. You can write, decorate, or draw with the engraver, freehand or with other stencils. This is not for tiny engravings, but you can adjust the tips (using a screwdriver) for all sorts of metals. The tool vibrates when you’re using it, so you’ll need to clamp what you’re working on down so it doesn’t jiggle. The manufacturer recommends stopping every five minutes so that the tool can cool off. And – in my opinion – to keep your hand from feeling like it’s vibrating for an hour after use. It works well and we’re pleased with this tool.

This electric engraving set is awesome! It features five speeds/depths (120V motor), 2 tungsten carbide tips and an alphanumeric stencil. Just insert the carbide engraving tip and set the screw in place by tightening it with a mini-screwdriver. After that, you are ready to go!The instructions are fairly clear-cut. It is recommended that you work in a clear workspace away from anything that may ignite or explode. It is advised that you wear goggles and make sure you wear protective eyewear and gloves. In my youth, I always got lectured about that by my father, so by now it's second nature!)You only need light pressure to engrave the desired surface. It is also recommended that you only use it five minutes of time to avoid overheating. I only carved my initials on some hand tools, my weaving loom, and other craft equipment, so each one took far less than that amount of time to do.

This won't be particularly effective if you want to write a love poem inside an engagement ring, but it should work just fine for putting your name on your belt sander. Some specifics:- If you can scratch it, you can engrave it. Metal, hard plastic, even hard wood. But, whatever is being engraved will throw dust into the air, so better to wear eye protection and a dust mask.- It is much easier to make a bunch of dots than a smooth line. There is a letter/number template that comes with the tool that has letters about half an inch high. It's probably possible to be more precise than that, but not much.- The engraver works by vibrating the tip really, really fast. This will make the work piece also vibrate, so ideally that will be clamped down or held firmly. You probably don't want to engrave a computer case while it's still attached to the rest of the computer.- The engraver comes with two identical tips. You will need a little screwdriver to install one of those (the screwdriver on my mini Swiss Army knife worked great). Pro-tip - tape the other tip to the cord until you need it.- The engraver has a California Prop 65 warning. I did a lead swab check on the cord (most likely suspect), and on the rubberized grip and the hard plastic body. None of those came up positive. There may be an issue with the red plastic buttons, but more likely this is from the solder inside the toolOverall, this is a useful addition to the toolkit.

This Electric Engraving Set is a fairly basic engraver for marking hard surfaces but if you want more precision, you'll need to step up to a Dremel-type tool. This only engraves and there are two, tungsten carbide tips included. To install the tip, you will need to remove the set screw using a tiny, flat head screw driver (not included.) Once the tip is securely installed, put on safety goggles and you're ready to engrave. There is a small lettering template included or you can mark your item with a pencil or marker. I suppose you could also engrave freehand but I wouldn't expect the most attractive results. I also suggest practicing on a scrap piece of material first to get a feel for how much the engraver vibrates. Also, the instructions say to use light pressure and that using firm pressure can damage the motor. Finally, the manufacturer says to use for only 5 minutes continuously and then turn it off for 5 minutes to allow the motor to cool down.It works fine. It doesn't engrave deeply on metal but there is a dial on the side to adjust for material hardness and depth. You can certainly see the engravings. If you want to make them more bold (on metal), you can rub a crayon over the markings and then wipe away the excess. If you have in mind doing something more artistic than labeling tools, etc., you'll need a Dremel tool. But this is good for its intended purpose and seems to be well built with a thick, tangle resistant cord.
