This centering jig works perfect . I use it for drilling & tapping hole for sight beads on shotgun ribs . The beads MUST be centered on rib for P.O.I. to be right . This jig works great .

This dowel jig works okay overall. It’s easy to find the center for marking, and the various inserts make it handy for drilling holes in different sizes.That said, the lack of a built-in clamping mechanism is a big miss. Without a way to secure the jig to the wood, it can easily shift during drilling, which increases the risk of misaligned holes. With a clamping option, this would be a much more reliable tool.

This metric self-centering dowel jig is well machined and the middle hole is nicely centered. Most of my drill bits are not metric but the 5/16" works really well with the 8mm inserts/dowel sizes. As a bonus when this jig is flipped upside down and the black screws backed out slightly to allow it to sit flush on a surface, it serves as a 90 degree drill guide (or still a dowel jig without the self centering aspect but also no board thickness limitation). Nice!First I tested it on some scrap wood to see if I could join two pieces together. Lining up the jig on specific lines wasn't too bad with the larger sized inserts because you can peep through the hole with a light (I used 8mm insert with 5/16" bit). I recommend twisting down on the jig as you drill to help prevent movement. Just downward pressure isn't enough to keep it from moving. As a beginner woodworker, this jig made centering a breeze and I was able to line up three dowels with relative ease. The seam was hardly noticeable too when running a finger across, so this jig did a great job.Overall this is a very handy little dowel jig/drill guide to have on hand, especially for the price!

This is a pretty good product. the milling on the piece is decent, there's no burrs from cheap manufacturing processes (not that that super matters when using such a product). does what it's meant to. not sure why they included wooden pegs. i guess as a "get started" thing, but i would assume someone drilling out peg holes would have a package of pegs already. doesn't come with anything to help keep the little drill things together. i guess you could keep them in the small cardboard box the thing comes in.

This is one of the nicer self-centering dowels that I've encountered. It comes with plenty of hole guides. I kind of wish it came with something to store all the guides in, though. I ended up 3D printing a holder to keep them all together and accessible, but I feel like it should just come with something like that already. Without it, you're pretty likely to misplace some (or all) of them. I was also a little sad this didn't come with the corresponding drill bits, but I'm kind of glad it didn't--I would have probably disliked them. ;POverall, this is a good device. It works well, it's a good value, and it's easy to use.
