I was getting back into fishing and wanted a good quality, but not too expensive reel. I was debating between this and the Stradic, but so far I've been very happy with the Ultegra. Just make sure you're using a thin, smooth line (if using braid). I was using 20lb Fireline and it wasn't very good; short casts and a rough feel when reeling back in. I swapped it for Seaguar Smackdown and it's made a world of difference.

I just ordered two. A 2500 amd a 3000 (on the same body). And they do not disappoint. They feel and cast like a Vanford. Sure, they are a little heavier. But honestly, you'd have to have bith mounted on simailar rods to even start to tell the difference. I own 2 Vanfords and have used for two year - I was hoping for a value option with the Ultegra, I did not expect it to run the Vanford this close. Incredible feel, looks classy and close your eyes it's really hard to choose. This may be a little 'honeymoon' euphoria but it actually feels nicer in the hand (maybe the little extra mass - ot just that it's new). I'll update after a month otherwise two. Terrific product.
