Very nice quality sifter/shovel! This will make an excellent addition to our shark collection tools.The shovel has a pointed end to make it easy to scoop up sand-- wet or dry. The holes are nice and square-- so the fine material will go through leaving behind small rocks and hopefully a lot of teeth.The storage bag was a plus -- for easy transporting of the tool. The other feature-- I like is that you don't have to add all the extensions to the handle-- you can adjust the size of the handle whether you are sitting or standing!I will be using in salt water-- not sure how long the material will last in salt water-- will need to prep the material before and after use!Great purchase!

I tried the shovel at max length on loose soil and hard desert soil. For loose soil it worked very well and was surprisingly sturdy for a jointed tool. I was able to sift the rocks out of rocky soil and a pile of soft dirt and tiny pebbles was all that remained. The hole size is somewhere around 1/4". For hard desert soil it didn't pierce well, a rake or hardened shovel was necessary to loosen the soil. This isn't the intended usage based on the listing, but it's worth knowing. There is a storage bag included so its easy to transport the shovel when disassembled.
