Works great, was able to get a bunch of timelapse photos using my Olympus E-PL2! I need to work on that side of my photography, but the remote shutter works great.Love the fact that half press to focus and full press to take the image works great.

I am using this cable release with my Olympus OMD-EM5. It works fine...snappy and locks for long or bulb exposures.

At first I was shocked at how small it was. This fits in the palm of my hand.It works with my Olympus OMD and it doesn't cost nearly as much as most out there.

The bottom line, the silver part of the plug stayed in the camera (OMD-EM5) after I pulled the plug out. Electronically it worked when it was in, half press, full and hold. But the very first time I plugged it in, it fell apart. It was plugged to the camera in the correct orientation (not upside-down). I put it back together and tried again (for the life of me I don't know why I thought it would work the second time) but same result, silver part of the plug wouldn't come out with the rest of the cable, and that's with extra care to keep the thing together. Amazon took it back, excellent customer service as always from them. I am thankful it fell apart right away instead of waiting till the return period was over. Maybe it was just a bad one.

I bought this for my new E-PL5, the user manual says I need the RM-UC1 remote. This product is listed as being "Fully compatible with the RM-UC1" in the title. However, I could only ever get it to trigger the autofocus on my camera, but not to trigger the shutter. A quick google search revealed similar problems with OM-D users and similar knock-off remotes, but fixable by pushing in hard. Well, I pushed in as hard as I was willing to push, but I didn't want to break my 650 dollar camera for a cheap 15 buck accessory.Returned for refund.

I bought this remote shutter release cable for my E-PL1, since that is one of the many cameras this item is listed as working for. What I got in the mail was actually the SM-702, which I'm guessing is the newer model of this product:[...]Well, I don't know where the seller got this information, but on the package it does not say it works with the E-PL1. It ~does~ say that it works with the E-P1 and E-P2, as well as older Olympus DSLRs (I forget the exact models, sorry).I plugged it into the USB/AV Out of my camera, and... nothing. Didn't work. And there's really nothing I could think of changing in-camera to make it work.I contacted the manufacturer, a Korean company called SMDV, at [...]and asked them if the SM-702 I got works with my E-PL1. They got back to me very quickly and said that no, it doesn't.So there you go. I was able to return it without a problem, so there's no complaints from me about Amazon's part in this. The product itself, the SM-702, seems very well-built. I know one reviewer said it works on his OM-D E-M5, which is a very new Olympus camera, so I don't know why it doesn't work on mine. But beware the description the seller gives on this item. Assuming they give you the same model I got, I would contact SMDV first, and ask them if it will actually work with your Oly camera.

This is a remote shutter release for micro four thirds Olympus cameras. It has a button, a button lock (for bulb exposures, so you don't have to sit there holding the button down) and a three foot cord. It plugs into the camera's USB port and when you push the button, it fires the shutter. Works perfectly. Costs $15 compared to the $70 for an Olympus-branded equivalent. Save your money, buy this instead. I own the Olympus OM-D EM-5 and this worked great!

If you're looking for a wired shutter release I would not hesitate in recommending this product. Construction and finish on this is very professional. The plastic looks and feels very durable no creaks or flimsy plastic feel. The cord is approximately 36 inches long which is enough for what I need it for. Have used it several times since purchase and have not had a single problem. Very satisfied with this product.
