I purchased this camera from Amazon.com ($799.) to create training video for a law enforcement organization. I was very impressed with the ease of use. The image looks great and the stabilization makes the user look like a pro. I found the onboard 64GB memory to be more than adequate for multiple shooting sessions but I purchased an additional 32 GB memory card and the medium capacity battery which provides over 6 hours of record time based on which HD setting you use. Remember you need to store all this HD video and I would suggest a 1 TB external drive so you don't use up your computer HD with all the unedited video. I found the capability to take 12.3 MP photos while recording video was very convenient but remember you cannot use this capability while shooting video in 60P (the highest quality mode). The image sensor provides great low light video and you can use the night shot mode. I really like the slow motion mode that can really make some interesting clips that exemplify techniques for things like firearms and defensive tactics. This mode really helps emphasize the proper position and movements. I suggest getting the waterproof sport case that lets you take the camera in water and inclement weather without fear of damage or foggy images. A desiccant pack that comes with the case assures no fogged lenses. I have seen the case advertised for $299 or less online. The USB connector in the camera strap works well but can seem slow if you have allot of video to download. I would suggest buying a mini HDMI to HDMI connector from monoprice.com for about $4. This will speed transfers and can provide camera control from the computer. The only downside is the position of the zoom control in relation to the photo button. People with large hands, like me, may find this challenging at first but I was able to adapt and use the control adequately.I would highly recommend this camera to anyone from beginner to the tech savvy professional where HD video is needed. The ease of use right out of the box makes it the right camera for almost every occasion.
